Default Nickelz34's 1990 EF SI Build - B16A-B18 YS1 Tranny

Decided to start a build thread for my 91 EF Hatch I just got . This will be a thread with all my progress of the vehicle . I will have videos and pitures as progress goes on during this build as well .

------------------------------------------

Just got the EF ! :

Heres some pics of outside and inside of car . I didnt get to take pics when i took carpet out sorry it wasn't nice anyways it had alot of mold under the carpet .

Got some new goodies for the hatch today !

Its a CRX SI dash with a steering wheel and the center console frame . Still don't have the piece that goes by your knees on driver side . It covers the wires and ignition area ( anyone got one let me know ).

its pretty quick tranny idk i like having the longer gears with the 10000 redline

maybe i should try a diff tranny idk , the current tranny needs new synchros and i was going to put new carbon syncros in but idk if it would be better to do that or get a whole new tranny .

I might look into a gsr tranny , what about a lsd tranny ?

someone told me a gsr tranny is short geared and might only top out at 110-120 , basicly making it good for track runs or occasional highway play

found a coil pack today at the pick n pull to replace the blown one i had . i put the coil pack in and mounted the dizzy and car started briefly but cut off . Went to check plugs and found plug 1 wire came apart when i pulled it out . The metal piece that goes onto the spark plug came right out of the wire when i pulled it off .

So this may be why my last coil pack blew out and now i need to get new plug wires .

Also the battery i have is leaking so i now need a new battery as well .

Everything else is going nice with car I need to figure out what i can do with it that doesnt require money as i am in between paydays ( any ideas ?)

Decided im going to be doing a complete wire tuck on the ef as well they look so sexy . I still have to go over the bay and see were i can start at with the tuck and determine how many wires or areas i can do without cutting anything .

Can i do a whole wiretuck without taking engine out ? Or would it be best to take it out ?

Whoever told you a gsr trans is that short needs to be slapped. The only difference between the b17a1 (gsr) trans and any other b16 trans is 1st gear is a tad shorter and the rest are the same. Same FD too. On the fatboy Raceworks trans calculator is shows the b17a1 trans having a top speed @ 8k rpm in 5th gear of 149 mph. Even w/ a type r 4.9 final drive @ 8k rpm is still yet 134 mph. Slap him please.
