No,the cat.conv. won't cause misfire. However the misfire will cause the catalytic converter to fail. How do you know it,s misfiring?

If you are sure that is really missing a cylinder or randomly missing and the full tune up It could be few things including the problem with fuel delivery or the EGR valve( or control of the EGR is malfunctioning) or it could be burnt valve (compression related). What's the milage on your car?
When did the problem started?Just out of nowhere? Was the tune up done for a reason or just trying randomly to fix it? Confess man ! .You know more than we do.

Well, start with simple stuff. Pull the spark plugs, take a look at them make sure they look normal and are gapped correctly.

I had a bad misfire problem, turned out I had the typical distributor leak. It's easy to check, pull out the 3 screws that hold the cap up, and if you see jizz in there you got a problem.

After you changed all those parts do you have spark for all the cylinders?
Do you have a compression ?
Does all the injectors have pulse?
Does the injectors work?
(you can put a screwdriver to each injector and listen to the clicking noise)

Check the conditions of where the spark plug wires meets the coils. Maybe there's a crack in them. Also check if your spark plug tubes is nice and dry. Even a slight hint of oil may be bad.

just put the "valve cover gasket kit" in along with a full tune up! car runs but has a bad missfire and in limp mode.....i have tryed to hook a code reader to it and the reader said not conected talked to honda and they said the ecu might be bad from the fact the code reader will not connect to the vehicle....

That's a hell of expensive guess there at HONDA!Can you get a wiring diagram and see what else is connected on the same wires that are used by DLC ?

I think you're getting too hung up on getting the code reader to work. You pulled the codes using the blue connector and a paperclip and got a code 41, right? I believe that's an open primary oxygen sensor heater. Check the codes again and confirm.

my '94 developed a horrible miss under light acceleration or when trying to maintain speed. Felt like driving over railroad tracks. Cleaning the EGR ports = fixed.
