i have some dents that need to be fixed, should i bondo them or try to pop them out with some paintless dent removal kit?
and if i were to fill them and paint over them, what body filler should i use?
and how do i get it to look straight?
almost every time i've tried using body filler it would all come out wrong
the feathering to make a seamless patch comes out wrong
the filler either is too bulged out or too shallow and it distorts the reflection in the paint and i can't see it until the paint is on
are there some techniques to doing this?
anyone want to give me some pointers?

depending on how small or big the dents are, you could use a dolly and hammer or something else.

to get panels straight. you need to block sand in a X patter.

U need to bondo then block then bondo again to fix any high or low spots then block till it feels right..primer the area use a guide coat on primer ( u can do a couple of mist sprays with a black spray can ) that will let u see if u droll have any high or low spots when ur blocking it.. like stated above block in an x pattern .. don't just use ur hand to sand it USE A BLOCK...

I graduated college and got my icar points, ive been restoring cars for 3 years. First off use gloss black spray paint to find imperfections. use a dolly that forms to the body panel that you are reparing. use a hammer that looks like a ball peen hammer. place the dolly on the indented side and softly tap the hammer on the side that is popping out... hammer the center of the dent slowly working your way outwards... till its somewat smoother, then apply your bondo... most bondos are the same, follow the directions smooth out with your blade as close as possible to the body panel... use a long board if possible to smooth to perfection. dont use sand paper on your hand, it could leave ripples, sand to 600 or 800 if its a metallic... if it is a metallic use a DA only to cover the surface and get rid of imperfect grooves that will make the flakes lay wrong. the gloss black spray paint is used after bondo, spray it on let it dry and sand with a long block, if it sands off its high to the rest of the area if its low it will stay black... when painting its mostly in the clear. the clear is wat will keep the uv rays from dulling the paint and it finishes the product, dont cheap out on it if you paint it yourself

 

I just filled a bunch of stupid mall parking lot dings. everything was smaller than a dime. IF they are bigger, I suggest you hammer and dolly them out a little before body filler.
