I'm picking up a 1996 Acura RL 3.5L, and it needs a few things. Is there any other acura/honda that has parts compatible? It's kind of in rough shape but I'm picking it up for $750. Here is whats wrong with it, radiator leaks, front seat motor, rear windows do not go down, a/c doesn't work, and the body is a little rough. Any info is greatly appreciated. Thanks guys!

 

Not much, just like the early TL's the RL has no sister car in the states. Some of the 3.2 tl parts might be interchageable but even if they were they are harder to find and more expensive. Basicall if it doesnt say its from an RL is most likely wont fit, best bet is to find an OEM acura dealer website that has part number lists and see if anything is compatible but like I said I highly doubt it. Beyond that 750 is a freakin steal for an RL in bad shape or not Good luck and Great find!

 

Thanks you very much. Yeah, I picked her up today. It runs like a raped ape, I'm very suprised how good it moves for having 150'000+ miles. Tomorrow I'm gonna look into finding a passenger mirror, radiator and go over it real good. I'd like to do timing belt and water pump since it was probably never done. Well to put it in perspective my 3.2 TL has 300k and still runs perfect with proper maintenance, these generation Acuras were the best ever made and run forever if you take care of them, good luck with it and you should enjoy it if you treat it right

 

welp, it needs both rear window regulator, a radiator, sounds like rear sway bar links, tires and a tail light bulb. I would love if the body was perfect but I can't complain for the price.

 

Thats lil stuff, find a scrap yard or two and you should everything you need. And theres always Ebay

Nope maybe some very small electrical parts or perhaps an alternator or starter or something like that, but you would have to cross reference them and it is doubtful, but as far as suspensions and body and things like that they are not compatible at all.

 

I've found 2 websites that said the rear window regulators can be used from a 96-04...and another said 98-03...I found some from a 98 for $89 on sale...but if i can use them the ones from a 96 are $350....which blows since i need both rear.

 

yeah lil stuff like that is probably compatible. But I dont really know for sure, Im retarded about maintenance and only use OEM stuff from Honda.

 

Just had it on the lift. It needs new rear sway bar links, both rear struts are bad, rear brakes.. the list is just getting bigger and bigger...

 

They are big cars and old at that, the suspension is going to need a thorough going through. I have had to replace a majority of the components in my susupension as well.

 

welp....transmission went. soo im gonna part it out...that lasted long...

 

That sux, although you could prolly replace the tranny pretty cheap
