Lost all gears over night, wtf happened?!
I just put a rebuilt auto in my 99 4cyl ex. It had about 5k miles on it to date. Took it out last night, idle started acting weird, gears weren't catching and within 30 mins it went from slipping horribly to not even catching half the time. Feels like im in neutral most of the time, can longer go over 40mph max. The trans sounds AWFUL, went from a small wine to a loud wine and it now sounds like its munching on itself
Check engine light of course came on, got 4 codes-
P1298- Electrical load detector circuit high input
P0700 transmission control system
P1738- 2nd gear swtich
P0740- torque converter clutch solenoid circuit
The first two dtc's sound like standard ones triggered by the last two- but I think the 3rd is also being caused by something such as the torque converter.
If the 2nd gear switch was bad I do not think the trans would sound horrible nor would every gear be slipping.. Is it safe to say it has bought the farm?
