hydro locked engine.
Essentially, a hydro-locked engine is exactly what it says... an engine that seized due to the intake of water through the intake manifold to the combustion chamber. Since engines are "air pumps" and are NOT designed to pump fluid, they stop rotating when a lot of fluid is introduced. What happens after the engine seizes? Well, that is hard to say... the engine could potentially be fine after the oil gets drained, engine is dried out completely, and necessary checks and repairs are done if needed. Now more likely the engine was "hydro-locked" at some type of higher engine RPM... this can lead to pistons breaking, connectig rods "twisting/bending", or something potentially catastrophic in nature. If an engine becomes hydro-locked during lower engine speeds, it has potential to get "steam" inside the cylinders which can wipe away all the oil and cause the pistons to score the cylinder walls...
Basically I could keep going on about this, but I hope by now you get the point. Unless you feel potentially feel like rebuilding the engine or like giant paper weights... stay away from it.

If the engine is truly hydrolocked then don't fix it. it's not even worth the time/money it takes to check to see what parts are bent or broken. Grab another d-series and move on.
i had a hatch that the fuel injectors stuck open on and caused this same issue. i just unhooked the injectors and removed the spark plugs and cranked it over and the fuel came out of the spark plug holes and it ended up being fine.
i know people who try selling there **** that is blown by saying its hydro locked to make it sound better either way hes probly being shady about have a blown the **** up motor.
cause usual when you hydro lock a motor he hasnt been treating it good anyhow in the first place yet alone the motor. so a hydro locked motor can be just as equal to saying
i ran it without oil.
Go out to the car and inspect it check the oil level check the block for destructions and before i would buy it i would take the plugs out and try to un hydro lock it

yea so i mean the deal basically seems to revolve around that fact that you
are going to buy it to swap it or restore the **** in it.
