13's N/A on B16a2 in 98 EX Coupe?
I am trying to get into the 13's on street tires in my 98 EX coupe *its black, so i have a 50hp advantage over other cars* and was wondering what i would need (besides the block to complete a CRVTEC setup...would i need the ls/vtec hardware kit,b20 mounts from place racing, and what would be the better tranny to use? my stock b16 tranny or the b20? i am going all motor first thing..
thanks again guys!
appreciate all the help you guys have given me thus far!

so, for a b20 VTEC, would i need the oil line for vtec (LS/VTEC hardware kit)? And would it be pretty easy/quick for a competent shop to bolt-up a bottom end to my b16 head? Need different mounts? what tranny would be best to use? 5spd from b20 or b16?
thanks again!,

Well if your a good driver it can be done. Dont underestimate that motor. My buddy had one in a 5th gen hatch and it would run a 13.7 on street tires, consistently. All he had was (P-73) ITR 98 cams valvesprings and retainers. the head was smoothed out, not ported. and he had a skunk2 chipped P-28 ECU. some other minor bolt-on's like air intake and header. He also had the B-series Del Sol (4.40 final drive) Trans. with stage 3 clutch. Its real fast on the highway but it's lacking in the lower-end department. I have seen it done, he's real good driver.
I don't think its possible on a N/A setup. B20/VTEC should be no problem....with a little work LS/VTEC should be able to get you there.
what??? I run 13.9 na with a first gen B16 on DOT. I hit 14.5 on streets. Think you might be confused
he's got a 98 coupe, what car are you hitting 13's in? shouldn't the extra 200 lbs. affect your performance? is this 13's on highly elevated area? low air density environment. i see low 14's on an all stock b16a2 motor in 5th gen hatches all the time. i'm totally out of it. i need to get back to work...
B20 is standard LS/VTEC conversion. Very easy to do. Make sure you take it to a shop that has done lots of them and does it properly. Last thing you want is oil leaking everywhere cuz they had no clue what they were doing. Your factory mounts will work just fine. All B series use the same mounts depending on the car.
Use the B16A trans, or consider getting a vtec trans (B16/B18C1/B18C5) with an LSD.
