Putting power locks/windows into a DX
I know it'll prolly add weight, but if I wanted to put either power door locks and/or windows... what's the easiest way ? Oh, it's a DX hatch....
Swapping in EX door panels ? Would I also need the full assembly and is a used OEM one expensive ?
My other option on the windows would be Auto Loc's window kit, but I don't know how loud or reliable that is. I've used their solenoids for my shaved doors on my last car and was completely satisfied, but power wiodows and locks might be a different story.
Thanks for any input

swaping doors from either an LX or EX with power would be the easiest. Your car should be fully wired to accept them. Honda pretty much uses 1 wire harness for all Civic same gens to save costs.
I have just finished this swap into my friends 2000 DX. We took out the all the stuff from a 2000 Si door. Like the power window module, door locks and door panels. All the stuff bolted right up. As far as the wiring, we pulled it from the Si as well. Its not very hard but time consuming. I did all the installation of the hardware and my friend did all the wiring. He used the good ole Helms Manual to find out what wire does what. He even wired up the factory keyless entry too.
It would just be 100 times easier to get a set of EX doors( no, LX doors won't fit, only 2 dr EX doors). You bolt em in and you're done, unless they're a different color- and you might want to just swap everything over. If you don't have to be driving your car for a day or 2, and know wiring pretty good, just swap the panels and modules like these other guys have done!
Cool, thanks all...
I would love to just swap the door on, but my ride already has a nice paint job and don't wanna have to repaint a set of doors.
CivicBoy69, do you know how much your boy paid for the doors/internal componeents ?

His car was totaled due to some damn thieves. He bought the car back for real cheap. Don't know
how much the stuff would cost. Maybe 250 or so im guessing.

gotta question about the door locks. now..first i want to say that i dont know much about cars in general, but i do have the same car(close enough - 1995 civic dx HB). alot of my friends have shaved door handles..so..why dont you shave it? i assume you know what that is
up to you,
i feel that its unreliable, ugly, expense to do, and devalues the car tremendiously

What year?
I know on the 5G's that honda NEVER pre-wired the hatches for the power package.
The swap can be done but you will need to either get two complete doors (or everything in them plus the door panels) as well as the wiring behind the dash.
I have done this swap and I got just about everything from a local junk yard. I pulled the wiring behind the dash out of a dead car and got everything, including the fuse box and all the plugs.
Its not difficult. Just very time consuming

I'm doing the same on my 92 DX hatchback, only problem is that I pulled the door off a Civic Hatchback CX that has a GSR wiring harness in it so the wiring for the doors were all bundled up in the GSR harness, if I pulled the wiring harness out of an EX would I be able to seperate the wires from the rest of the harness or would I have to splice some of the wires still? My friend that has worked on Hondas forever swears that the harness for power windows and doors is seprate....
so what is the real answer???
