Here is goes. What the best suspension setup do you think for a dc setup. Best bang for your buck. looking for at least 2.5 front and 2.25 rear. I need to maintain drivability due to some harsh roads in elpaso. I have been looking at a skunk2 spring and shick setup but was told they ride like ****. Any ideas. I would like to keep under 600 for full spring and shock replacment my existing stock ones are d.o.a. Gives me an excuse to replace all. 99dc4

some people with alot of experiance in the game have told me that bwr and skunk2 are either bouncy or go bad fast, i am looking into the megan racing though i am an ex 240sx guy and have some experiance with megan on s13 and s14
My buddy's meagan coilover springs were rusting, and the coating flaking off in less then 2 months of use. And we live in WA, so no salt and **** like that to blame.
If they can't get the coating right, I don't want to see what else they screwed up on.

cool. cool are you running progress they same pretty legit after extensive research. what do you recommend on lbs 350-250, 350-350, 350-500?
I am not currently runing progress. There is a few poeple on this forum I know off, hopefully they will chime in.
Jugding from their posts they LOVE the setup.
For as low are you want to be, you'll some decently high rates in front. I would go 500F 350R.
For a 2.5'' drop the 350lb in the front, is a tad too low.

I have progress and I've put about 10,000 miles on them and 5 autocross events, including one novice school with 20+ laps of driving and a skid pad.
LOVE progress for the price point. Great stuff. Though if you have the money I would certainly go for Koni/GC or AMR. Much more bang for the money, and if you plan on owning the car for years the end cost isn't much different. ~$20 a month over a few years.
I've got the 350/350 Progress setup and it's fantastic for daily driving and learning autocross. Now that I've learned so much on the limits of my car and suspension I'm ready for something stiffer.
As low as you want to be I'm not sure I can recommend progress. I would push you towards Koni/GC with rates like 98civdx said or AMR.

thats whats up. thanks for the suggestions so many options. I am not really looking to do any autocross or drag events street or strip. just got my license back from my last series of street fun. just going for a respectable semi jdm and mod look and function on a budget. thanks again guys still open for more info.
If you haven't checked out the link in my sig it might be worth reading to you. I've spent a lot of time on these forums and it's a collaboration of my observations made in my time here.
Saw this thread and thought I'd chime in. I know it's gonna **** off everyone on this site, but I don't really give a damn.
Buddy of mine has been running Megan coilovers on his car for about a year now. There's easily 70K miles on them and they are holding up just fine. There are no signs of fatigue, no issues with quality, and certainly no problems with ride quality. In fact I've been on a few road trips in his car and had no problems sleeping in the back seat, the ride is that nice. I also happen to have Megan coilovers on my Accord and likewise, I have no problems with them. To me they ride as well or better than anything I've tried on any of my cars, strictly speaking in terms of daily driving, point A to point B.
Now, I'm not going to tell anyone to throw Megan products on their car if they intend to take it to the track every weekend or generally beat the living hell out of it on a daily basis. No, there are certainly better suspensions out there. I won't argue that. Koni, Ground Control, all of that stuff is just fine, I have no issues with supporting their products. But I know from MY OWN EXPERIENCE, that there is nothing wrong with Megan products.
Anyone else can feel free to express their own opinions but this one is mine, and like theirs, you can take it for what it's worth.
Deuces.

i also do not condone using megan stuff, but my friend has the track coilovers on his s2000 and for what he paid for them, the ride is extremely comfortable.
Call BS if you want. You don't know me any more than I know you. Maybe you're the uber-God of all things Honda. Maybe you're some pimple-faced teenager that gets a big dick from talking **** to complete strangers on the internet. Hell, maybe you're the nicest guy to talk to and we could actually have a lot in common. Don't care, and I'm not here to judge.
Some of us drive a hundred miles or more every single day, myself included. Some of us drive cross-country a couple times a year, again, myself included. Why the hell would anyone need to lie about that?

You have to admit, it seems pretty damn impossible for someone to put 70,000 miles on a car in one years time. Makes your whole story suspect. You would have to drive almost 1,350 per week to rack up that kind of mileage. Driving 65 MPH you would nearly have to drive 21 hours a day!!! That's why it sounds like BS. Next time don't exaggerate.
You're right, you'd average 1300 miles a week. It equals out to about 200 miles a day. For someone like myself that grew up and still lives in the middle of nowhere and drives 80 miles one way every day, on top of the road trips my job as well as my personal life brings, it's not hard to rack up that kind of miles.
So yeah, I'll leave it at that, and you can go about judging me and flaming me if that's what makes you sleep at night. Seems to be the M.O. of most users on this site. I see now why I didn't register sooner.
Good day.

I was actually just about to do the math, lol. I remembered an article explaining how a guy put 1,000,000 miles on his volvo in 30 years.

Believe it or not, some people do commute that far. My parents were driving over 230 miles a day shortly before they retired.
Eventually my father grew tired of driving that far, so he bought a Cessna and would fly from the local airport to Boeing field, then they'd drive to work from there.
Anyway, point being is that it isn't unheard of for people to commute that far, plus the additional miles from just farting around town.
Buddy's dad is 200+ a day. Average commute is 200.
He been known to drive to seattle (80-90miles from his house) and then turn around and head to Portland 200 and some odd miles from Seattle, and then back home in the same day.
It wouldn't too hard to rack up that kind of miles in a year. Don't you guys ever wonder how 2-3 yr old cars pop up with 100K+ on them?

But anyway, Megan is generally still crap for suspension.
70k/12months= 5,833 miles a month.
5833 miles a month / 4 weeks in a month= 1485.25 miles a week.
1485/7 days=212 miles a day.
ORR when you think about the fact most people who will be traveling that far aren't working weekends. 1485/5= 297 a day, still doable.
And when you consider "most" people will not be doing the speed limit, and often times will exceide 70mph it's even easier.
Some city's even have 70mph zones on the highway. In that case, I'd do 80.

i've done 25,000-30,000miles in three months. basically drive to work in the morning, after work, literately drove from 3:30pm to 9pm. to give prof, in the beginning of the three months, had a full thread set of star specs, at the end of the month, they where at the cords, with even wear, at all four(rotated every month). they have a 25,000mile warranty. have to also add, stock height with zero toe.
so 70k is doable,
so 70k is doable,

Your joking right? Please explain to me why you would reccomend anyone buy these joke coilovers?
