I have a 99EK B16a2 swap. The car was running fine but lately I have noticed that the car kinda throws a weird sound out the exhaust around 7-8200 rpms. It kinda goes pah pah bah not a loud sound, certainly not detonation but like a fart kinda. no smoke no nothing, other that this the car is fine.

fuel pressure is at 45 psi wot.

im thinking it needs a tuneup, ignition all the way around. what do you think?

 

start with the simple option get a complete tune up and if thats not the problem have a good mechanic take a look at it

 

Sounds like timing. Check your cam timing to make sure you are not off a tooth and check your ignition timing. Are you getting any codes?

 

timming? Check your plugs and distributor. Any detonation on the plugs?

its definatly not the timing. i had the honda dealer actually service this for me. as for a tuneup, i think thats what it might be, i haven't changed the rotor or wires in about 30G miles.

yikes. i just wanted to make sure it wasn't nothing serious.

would you guys recommend the sci ignition or 6al? I already just bought the distributor cap, i need the rotor, wires and blaster 2 coil but i figure what the hell go all out on a REAL tuneup.
