this is the last thing i need to have all the parts I need to do the swap.... the swap is a 1996 EX Y8 head replacing the non vtec head on the D15b7 in my 1992 Dx. I have read alot about certain timing belt/water pump combos being too tight or not tight enough. The VX/Si water pumps have 22 teeth vs. the DX 19 tooth. So I'm guessing I will need a Vtec timing belt as well, but should it be for the 96 EX head or the 92 VX or 92 Si. (92 VX and Si have same waterpump but different timing belt part #'s)

stick with the EX/Si water pump

 

I plan on using the that water pump. I found out 1992 SI, EX and VX all have the same water pump. I just don't know if I should use the 96 EX timing belt, if it will be too tight or loose?
I found out that all 1992 EX, Si, and VX all have different timing belts. But 96 EX and DX have same timing belts, neither one is the same as any of the 92 timing belts though.
If I had to guess, I would buy the 96 EX timing belt but I'd hate to find out it doesn't fit after my engine is half apart

 

I'm sure all will work, just make sure you tension it enough on the components.

I'd go with the 96 EX timing belt though.
