f22a4 stock engine rebuild help
i have a 91 honda accord ex 5spd. im to believe i have a blown piston ring in cylinder 3. oil all over the sparkplug tip. looking around for a good kit to rebuild and any suggestions so that i dont spend more than necessary. im puttting my money into another project and this would be my daily if i decide to fix it. other wise it goes up for sale...or to the junker, something i rather not do.
is there anyway to rebuild the bottom end without removing the engine? any particulars i should be aware of when pulling the engine?
thanks in advance.

To correctly rebuild the bottom end, it should be removed, cleaned, decked, measured, honed, and then reassembled with all new gaskets...
You could get away with just an (in car) flexball hone and new rings, but I wouldnt recommend it...
The cheapest and probably most practical way to get your car up and running again would be to find a used engine on craigslist and just swap that in...
But first and foremost, do a compression and leakdown test. If necessary, go further and pull the head off, drop the pan and pop out #3 rod and piston...
Be 100% sure on your diagnosis so you know exactly what you're getting into and the best way (for you) to fix it..
Good luck!
