Can't get rod bolts off
Does anybody know what the best way to do this is?
This is my first ever build and I went ahead and put my pistons on my rods before loosening the rod cap bolts. The pistons secure with spiral locks so I DO NOT want to take them off the rods.
The rods are Carrillo Pro A's and they are brand new and I just can't get the rod caps off. The are on so tight I can't even get them to budge because I can't hold them down. I have tried standing on them.
I would like to know the best way to do this without damaging the rods and I do not have a rod vise. I am in Singapore.
Please help

Re: Can't get rod bolts off
You have a huge leverage advantage, rod crank hole width vs bolt head. You only need leverage, little clamping. Vise with smooth jaw, wood block, padding in the vise. Again, not clamping, just holding from rotation.

Clamp the rod cap in the vice with the piston hanging down. Loosen the rod bolts 3-5 turns, tap the heads of the rod bolts alternating between the 2 until the cap separates.

Re: Can't get rod bolts off
Thanks guys! I need to get down to a shop which has a vise I can use. I never in my wildest imagination would think these would be on so tight and that I would have this problem. Like I said this is my first build and not one of the build treads I read said anything about this!
It feels like they might be on tighter then I will have to stretch / torque them. Or maybe my wrench is just way too short...
Thanks again!

Re: Can't get rod bolts off
Awesome guys!
Got them off with them held in between some rubber mat in a vise.
This is why I love Honda-tech!
Half way through putting my pistons in now!
Thanks so much!
