i'm thinking i have a head gasket blown. it does have white smoke come out the tail pipe of stainless steel exhaust but its not all the time. the coolent is low. it runs out alot faster after i just bought and put on a new radiator cap. i noticed it was leakin out somewhere and also wasnt pullin water from the tank next to it. so ended up finding it leaking from the cap & also notcied the radiators lip where cap goes on was bent so fixed that. so now it pulls water from the tank next to it but i have to fill it up wit more water than did. guess the pressure finally increased to pull water from tank but now more pressure it leaks faster n harder from another spot?? cant find another leak yet.

 

Try a leakdown test first and see if anything is coming out of bad hoses first. If not and you do change the headgasket make sure you change the water pump at the same time.

 

Check at your local parts store for a coolant pressure tester and try that if you don't find any leaks then get a block tester(checks for combustion gasses in the cooling system) and try that.

 

yea i was thinking about puttin a long piece of cardboard down under the car that way i might know where its comming from.
and i need to check pressure of cooling system? id say it has enough since its finally pulling water from the reserve tank...
and yea if i have to do head gasket im goin to do water pump & themostat
tryin to think what else i should do since ive had problems wit this car from start.. it runs really rich.
