you do realize the VSA is vehicle stability assist right? theres a button right next to you sunroof that says VSA and you just press it. basically traction control. it has absolutely nothing to do with you brake lights or anything.

Try swapping in a known good VSA module. You'll instantly know whether or not it worked.

I was thinking about this today and it could also be related to a faulty sensor. I'm not sure how the VSA reads data, but if it reads wheel speed through the abs sensor and it's bad. Then that could explain why it only comes on after you step on the brake. I could be wrong. But an ABS sensor is cheaper than a $1000 VSA module.

he could be right. the way VSA read is if one tire is spinning more than the other, then it auto corrects it to balance out the spin or sliding of the car. if the car senses more pressure on one wheel, it'll automatically correct it to attempt to prevent spinning out.

That's exactly what I came to.

My only other thought is if the VSA module uses the ABS sensor for a speed signal the VSA could be good, but the ABS sensor could be bad. BUT.....If it were a faulty ABS sensor you would think the ABS light would be on. Can anyone that's better versed in electrical chime in? I'm curious as to what it could be.
