Default My '90 Accord EX. Specs. 'n such?

Hey I read almost all of the posts here on these forums, just trying to grasp any knowlege I possibly can. But, before I do that, I have to know what the hell you guys are talking about ! LOL!.

I have a 1990 Honda Accord EX. What is it's "Gen." I take it that "Gen." means generation. Right?

I see you all talking about these engine and their names. Wow, talk about confusing (to me. Not to you pro's out there ) What is my engine called? (e.g. f22 (or what ever))

Are there any engines out there that would maybe fit in my old Accord? Is it even worth it seeing as though my car is heavier then the U.S.S. Washington? If there is, are of of 'em V-Tec?

If anyone happens to know. How much HP does my engine have? Everything is stock besides some OBX 10.3mm Spark Flug Wires, and some new spark plugs. And, what does WHP compared to HP mean?

I read all of these posts by these pro's and I just have no idea what they're talking about, so maybe after these questions are answered (hopefully) I will have some knowlege to go on.

Please don't flame me because I don't know what's going on. I'm just trying to learn as much as I can in order to take good care of my car. And maybe make it a little faster

Thank You All!

-Nick

First off, it's a 4th gen. You've got an F22A4, I believe... F22A for sure. A lot of people are dropping H22's into their 4g's. It's a VTEC out of the Prelude. Do a google search on something generic like H22A swap and you should find lots of info.
Hope this helps.

Well, I suggest you stick around and learn as much as you can before you do a swap. Read some Sport Compact Car. Try to learn the most you can. That way when it comes time for a swap, you will know everything you need to in case something goes wrong, so on and so forth.

BHP = Break Horse Power = HP (for all you magazine racers)
WHP = Wheel Horsepower or Horsepower that has been put through the working of a transmission and all of its parts, through the axles, and has seen restriction from an intake with filter and exhaust. WHP is what is measured on a chasis dyno.

So WHP is what really matters. Right?

Also, I am thinking about selling my car because honestly I want to get a car that has the potential to go fast. Now, I may be wrong here, but from my understanding I have a really heavy car and not matter what I do to it, it really isn't going to be that fast. I don't want to just have a car that looks "cool" (ricers I think you call them?) I want a car that looks like it ain't ****, but when the light turns green they think other wise. I don't know it's just me.

Now, what I ask from you all is, can this beast of a car go "fast"? Is it worth to keep it around and totally hook it up? Thanks alot for all of the answers so far and the ones to come. I respect everyones opinion!

Right.

Anything can be made fast with the right amount of money. How much are you willing to spend? How much are you willing to gut?

Well I do know enough about all of this that this will cost ALOT of money, but if I do decide to go this route, then it will be over some period of time.

I don't make too much money doing what I do, so it will take a long time. I would have to get the engine first.

What is the least amount of money I can spend in order to make my Accord go "fast". Just give me a ball park range.

Honestly, what do YOU guys think I should do? Go to a Civic, or keep my Accord and make it Niiiiice!

By the way. What's a sleeper?

Depends on what you think 'fast' is.

Save up for a WRX.

Sleeper is a car that looks stock, but has more ***** than stock.

Oh man, you don't know how much I want a WRX. Ive wanted one for SO long. That's my dream car!

But, about the 'fast' issue. I don't know what fast is to you guys. I may say something that I think is fast, but you may think the tortise could beat me.
Ok, say something like... 14's in the 1/4 miles? Is that good? Can an accord do that?

Thanks.

H22 with bolt ons will get you to the 14's.

Oh wow. Sweet. How much am I looking at for a H22? Are there different type of H22's or is it just what the engine is called. It is a V-TEC? Where would I go about getting one of those bad boys?

Now, how about my tansmission. Will it be able to withstand the ultimate power of this H22?

When/IF I get this engine, swaping is better letting a professional do it. Right? Or isn't it that really hard? How about motor mounts? Are there ones that will fit it in my car.

Sorry for so amny questions, I'm just kinda excited about this right now.

Byt the way. does anyone live in the St. Augustine, FL. area? Or Jacksonville - Daytona?

Thanks.

Also. I have been reading a post here recently talking about the v-tec engine, and something about the "v-tec" not working. Is there something in the actual engine called a v-tec? Or is that what the engine is called. 'Cause I keep hearing about something like the v-tec isn't kicking in or something.
