Icon2 Annoying idle issue, can't figure it out read current post

So I installed a Type R intake manifold on my '04 rsx. The idle was going from 1000 rpms to 3000 rpms while driving with the clutch in. Then a idle it was 1000 rpms to 2000 rpms. I switched back to my stock intake manifold thinking something was wrong but the same problem is still present.

I had a friend with a eg civic that had he issue and they by passed it, I like to solve problems and get things working correctly.. Incant think of anything that could have been messed up. I am stumped on this one. There are no vac leaks the coolant lines to the iacv are hooked up correctly..

Sounds like your taking a stab at something you have no idea what your talking About.. A vac leak to the manifold with raise rpm not go up back down up back down, unless that vac line goes to a sensor..

Another thing uninstalled a strupt performance header the o2 sensor were moved down about 4 inches. So I had to extend wiring.. But I get 90 miles per 1/2 tank... So I am running rich and I have to check that on the scanner tomorrow.. Any knowledgeable input would be great.!!

Sounds like you don't know what you are talking about either... A vacuum leak can cause sparatic idle up and down even if that vacuum leak does not fall on a sensor.

Do you have the right gasket. I'm not sure how the ITR manifold is but we put a RBC back on to a guys car after being supercharged and used the wrong gasket so it blocked his map sensor and we had a hell of time getting it to idle and run right and took us forever to figure out the issue.

If anything a vacuum leak is a good place to start. Grab some soapy water and start spraying looking for bubbles. Why did you go with an ITR manifold? I would have gone with an RBC.

That's a good way to get people to help you... considering you're the one who started the thread asking for advice.

Have you tried cleaning the IAC valve?

Low coolant/Air in your coolant can cause this as well as make your car take way longer to heat up

'Sprayed card cleaner no vac leaks.. also my car does not take long to heat up, but wouldn't air have worked itself out by now.. see the guy I bought this from told me it did it to his car before buying this from him, so I knew it could happen I am just trying to figure it out.

These are the two holes and they are identical to the manifold I took off..

On my old car, if there was air in the system , it never worked its way out. it may not be your problem, because it doesnt take an excessive amount of time to warm up...

You said it never worked its way out, does that mean you had to do something to help it, or you changed back? Thanks for the info!

I truly do not think the manifold is crack or deformed. I will be taking it off tomorrow and inspecting it though.

i had to bleed ,y coolant. there was a bleeder valve on the intake ( V6 acura legend) and you opened that, and then filled the coolant till bubbles came out, then coolant, that way you know there is no air in there. i couldnt figure out why my car was idling incorectly, jumping up 2-3k rpm, just like you described, well, it was because there was air inside my coolant. another side effect was my heater wouldnt work for the longest periods of time, because my thermostat wasnt opening because the air bubble was trapped up next to it.

sorry if the post is hard to read, ive had a long day

Wasn't that, I replaced the intake manifold still no difference. the guy I bought it from said it took him a few cycles with the stock one before it went back to normal.

Yeah.. I put my stock manifold back on the idle is screwy still ;/

The idle if driving goes from 1000 rpms to 3000 rpms. If the car is stopped it goes from 1000 rpms to 2000 rpms.. I think my iacv is messed up or something ..

Wow didn't reply to this thread in over 2 years wow. Anyhow it was my IACV, it was stuck I took it apart lubed it up, everything worked great! I no longer have the RSX, but I thought (even though it has been forever) it would be nice to have a follow up!
