I thought I just read somewhere that all JDM ecus are obd1, regardless of year.

Yes and no. I had a JDM ITR ECU that came with my 98 spec ITR swap and I still needed to use a OBD1 to OBD2 jumper harness. I believe the plugs are the same as OBD2 but the ECU itself is OBD1 spec.

the plugs are the same as the usdm ecu, i've had both. I got the jdm one because it's less restrictive, and doesn't check for all the various sensors like the us ones. They also limit your cars top speed to about 110, although I haven't got up that high to test it.

Yes.
So you're saying that the USDM ECU's don't have a speed limiter?

Well for one thing, the JDM PR3 revs to 84,000 and is designed to run on 98 octane min. (high octane in Japan is 98 to 100), and features a more aggressive Vtec A/F ratio, thats where the extra 5 ps comes in. OBD is a California regulation and shares similar regulations to that of to Japanese vehicles through federal regulations.

What are you talking about?

PR3 ECUs are first gen non-OBD B16 ECUs and they revlimiter is at 8200 rpm on those units.

and is designed to run on 98 octane min. (high octane in Japan is 98 to 100)
The standards by which USDM and JDM octane ratings are derived are not the same, therefore you cannot compare a JDM rating directly to our USDM ratings.

and features a more aggressive Vtec A/F ratio, thats where the extra 5 ps comes in.
More BS.

OBD is a California regulation and shares similar regulations to that of to Japanese vehicles through federal regulations.
If you spoke English, it'd make it easier for us to understand the points you're trying to make.
