Oem Civic struts squeaking like hell. Advice? lol
ok, so here's the story. 2 weeks ago i found a set of oem struts for my 99 civic to replace my old beat down ones. i found em at a junkyard, but closely inspected them personally. no cracks or damage to the bushings, no bad springs etc. bought all four for 150. paid a friend of mine another 150 to install them.
so im coming home tonight with my radio turned down and i start hearing little squeaks when i hit bumps in the road. so when i get home, i start pressing down on my hood, and sure enough its my front struts.
i hope its just the fact that the bushings are wet from it raining today, but with it being dark outside, i really cant examine it that closely. thoughts? comments? bible stories?

for the installation of 4 struts, alignment and rotating and balancing my tires? nah lol. an alignment by itself is 60 bucks everywhere within a 30 mile radius of where i live so i think i did pretty well for myself. plus he's a good dude and knows suspension setups inside and out.
squeaking doesn't come from strut(or at least to my knowledge ). usually squeaking when pushing the car down/hit bump can come from strut mount, stabilizer link, or ball joint. if all other is fine u might want to try to swap in ur old strut mount might solve the issue
Yes, they can squeak. From my experience the squeaking comes from blown shocks.
When he installed the shocks did he clock your bushings?
$150 for used OEM shocks, they ripped you off.
thanks man. its actually squeaking around all four of them. i just checked the rear too lol. im thinking its because something got wet around them because it rained all day today and i had to drive in it. if it hasnt stopped by in the morning then i'll take it by his shop and ask what the hell he did to my car lol.
i have no idea what all he did exactly. i was at work while he put them in. and no, they're not blown. i told him i wanted him to check them out before he installed them. when i came to get my car, he told me they were in good shape. the coupe they came from had around 70k on it when it was wrecked. i figure another thing may be that they've been sitting in that junkyard for a while and need some time to get broken in again.

im praying to the lord jesus h. as we speak that something else hasnt gone wrong lol. that suspension has been nothing but a pain in the *** for the past 3 years. first, the idiot who had the car before me put some cheap *** coilovers on STOCK shocks. which led to A. blown shocks. B. terrible alignment issues. and C. horrible ride.
the thing thats puzzling me though, is that the shocks have been on the car for a week now and i havent heard a single noise from them. but the first day it rains they do this. they didnt start squeaking until about 3 or 4 hours after it stopped raining either. weird ****.

its stressing me out man lol. im sittin here chain smoking cigarettes, and cursing like a sailor haha. the sound is coming from behind the rim if that helps at all. like, where the strut mounts are. im not sure whats going on.
Deffinetly ask your buddy who the bushings looked.
I know how you feel, I am currently having issues with mine. Beers are going down like water, talking to my buddys trying to figure this crap out.

i still have the shocks that blew out. i think the bushings were ok on them still. maybe if thats the problem then he can switch them out. because i am not riding around town with my car squeaking like a hooker's bed lol.
like i said man, i really have no clue what all he did. if its still doing it when i go to work in the morning, im gonna drop it off and let him deal with it.

The squeaking is most likely your lower ball joints. Do steering inputs cause the squeaking as well?
