so my accord wont idle right it's my very first car and i am new to the honda seen i bought the car and now it wont idle right the guy i bought it off of clams that its a idle control valve is that true and is there any way to fix it?

 

anyone got any clues?

 

Well, there isn't that much information to go on, so hard to really help...we don't even know what year it is? Are the tune up items (cap, rotor, plugs, ect) up to date....

So with the limited information to go on......Look in the FAQ for cleaning/adjusting the IAC and FITV.

 

well its a 1994 5 speed and i am not sure if everything is up to date but seems and looks ok.

 

Do you have any check engine light?

And how does it not idle right? bouncing from like 1500 up to 3000 rpm then drops back down and repeats??? If so, at cold start up or when engine's hot?

 

well when i start it when its cold it idles at like 2 grand then when it gets warmed yup she will hit 1500 and try and bring her self back to 2000 never any problems when hot.

 

Get your IACV cleaned out. Steady idle at 2K when it's cold is normal.

 

I have a 1990 honda accord coupe lx. Sports Light on, speedometer doesnt work, rpms jump up and down.. while driving coming to a stop hitting the brakes the rpms drop to zero and my car shuts off. The car shop say I need a VSS sensor but can a sensor cause a car to cut off...
