Default Computer thinks brake lamp is bad, but I do not. Help?

Hello.

Quick info on my car.
I have a 1990 Honda Accord EX. It has 141,xxx miles on it.

Now, here's my problem.
Every now and then my "Brake Lamp" light will go on (telling me my lamp is out?). Well after this happeneing a few times and trying to look for myself I got some of my friends to look at it while I press the brake pedal (while lights are turned on and off) and I had them look at it when I didn't have my foot on the pedal (while lights are on). They all said that all of my brake lights are working (and these tests were taken while this "brake lamp" light was one)

Has anyone else had this problem, and fixed it? Does anyone know of something happening like this? Would you know how to fix it?

It's just really annoying having that light stareing me in the face, especially at night time.

Thank you all for your time and assistance.

my 4th gen is doin the same damn thing...I think its either the brake pedal relay starting to go bad or just a bad connection back in the trunk...I will have to do some more investigating.

Hey .. update on this problem from me:

with the car actually running this time.. my backup lights are stuck ON when ignition is on. Want to hear something though thats odd.. my backup lights have been inoperable since 1999 when the car was swapped to manual.. so why the hell did they come on all the sudden.

I have the electrical system troubleshooting manual for the car.. tonight i'll look through it and see what in the hell is going on here.

i thought it was the same one that tells you the light is out. maybe not, but I guess you could still check it. I can't picture the light in my head right now, so Im not sure.

I thought the brake fluid issue was referrering to the "brake" lamp that turns on when you have the handbrake on.

the warning lamps for like which door is open etc... below the "car" mockup is a light that says BRAKE LAMP informing you that a brake light is out. not related to the "BRAKE" light with the other idiot lights.

ok yea just drove and it doesn't seem like it should be the brake lamp one, however the way that I remembered it, was that you start your car, without stepping on the brake. Then if it is on, it is the fluid, and if it only comes on once you step on the brake, it is the tail lights.

93accordEX,

Actually acording to the manual that rule appyes only to the "brake" light (the one that lights up when you pull on the Hand brake). Acording to the schmatics the "brake light" light which is located under the picture of the car with the doors open is in no way connected to the circuit pertaining to the "brake" Light (hand brake). I would say that it's a simple loss of ground Or just a bad censing unit. With this many people having the same trouble there is bound to be a common bad element. I will trace it out this weekend and post if i come up with anything.

I'll scan the diagrams today if i can.. but basically the warning indicators are controlled by the left brake light (body not trunk lid light) control box. When it thinks a bulb is out it closes a circuit applying ground to the BRAKE LAMP warning indicator.

I'm going to wager this circuit after 13-14 years and 250k miles on my car is *shot*. I'll try checking all my grounds etc, but i have double checked and my bulbs are ALL fine. If everythings OK, i'm just going to yank the bulb from the cluster... im not payin to replace either the left/right sensor ... even with a junk yard one.

My 92 has done it. I don't know what happened bc it doesn't do it anymore, but it did for a long a$$ time...While I was at NOPI all of my brake lights gave out. Turns out it was juust the fuse. Check your fuses in your fuse box, bc all mine are good now. (42 fuse bouns pack @ wal*mart, $8.99)
