Default Helping friend with Mini-me swap... will this ECU work?

Guys,
My friend has a '97 LX Auto with D16Y7 with blown head gasket.

We want to do a Mini-Me while the head is out.
Will an ECU from a '98 HX Auto be all he needs ECU-wise?

ECU has this part number on it: 37820-P2N-A61

Thanks for confirming.

Thats not a good ecu to try to run, that ecu is out of the economical version of the civic. That being said VTEC engages at 2500 rpm on that ecu and is not noticeable better off with the Ex ecu or a obd1 jumper for the p28 (not 100% on that 2500 rpm but its still the economical ecu)

Thanks for the info man.
Problem is, I am having trouble finding an ECU from an Auto EX. My friend doesn't race or anything, but since the head will be out he wants to do the Mini-Me swap to give it at least passing power on the highway hehe.

So the new question is: If I buy this HX Auto ECU I found locally, will I be able to have it socketed and mapped to have it take full advantage of the Mini-Me modification, or is it not possible with that particular ECU?

Thanks again.

Any additional info will be appreciated guys, I am not familiar with 96+ Civics and their tuning options much given they're OBDII.

Thanks.

There are no tuning options for OBDII unless you want to drop a grand or more.
