Any effective but cheap ways to prevent rust
95 hatch, doesn't have any rust and would like to keep it that way. Anyone know of some good rust prevention stuff on the market that won't require me to get a pump for it to spray it?
rust check, especially the stuff in the green cans, i'm not sure if you can get it outside of canada though. Krown works well too. The biggest thing is you want something oily that wont easily wash off, and you want to make sure the underside of the car is pretty clean when you do it. Make sure you get up on the wheel wells, inside the rocker panels, doors and trunk lid or hatch.
They have this stuff in a can for dressing up your fender wells. It is black with a matte finish. I have no Idea what it is called but I have seen it just about everywhere that carries automotive stuff. You will see it in the detailing section just look for it!
alright cool, yeah next i've seen the stuff but was curious if anyone had experience with any of it. thanks 94eg8 i'll look Krown, i really just want to get my doors and wheel wells and panels. I'm gonna pull the rocker mouldings off and spray it, i just know the undercoating is probably wearing thin after this long.

Btw, make sure you get inside the rocker panels and in side the trunk area (back side of the quarter panels etc) these things rust from the inside out.
It's a double edged sword. The moldings prevent rock chips and peeling paint which cause rust, but they trap water and salt that cause rust. Your damned if you do, your damned if you don't type deal. I have of people removing the moldings, filling them with oil based undercoating and putting them back on and having good results though
You know i'll have to look at my car and see if they are even still on there, cause now that i think about it i don't think they are.
