Another ej6 window problem :S
hey, greetings from the uk
, was wondering if i could get some help with a continuous problem ive been having with my 96 ej6 coupe.
Firstly, ive been having problems with the pass side electric window ever since i bought the car, the common problem of the window falling off track, I have fixed this problem, however a month ago, the passenger side window went completely dead. So i decided to change the regulator, changed the regulator and the window was working fine, untill i shut the door, where it stopped again, the window would only work if the drivers side door was open, so I then fiddled around with the wiring loom going from the drivers door to the car, i found sme loose wiring as if i held the loom a certain way the passenger window would work, so I put a cable tie around the loom, thinking it would hold it tight and all would be fine, once i did this both windows lost power, so I had to remove the cable tie, take off the wings etc, check the wiring from the drivers and passengers door, and all seemed fine, although the wiring at the doors was a bit chewed, which is what i would expect for a 15 year old car, i couldnt find any complete splits that would be the cause for this problem. Tested all wiring with a multimeter which showed power, and grounds were fine, i was forced to lock my passenger side window, and disconnect it from the drivers side switch in order to get my drivers side window working atleast. I have been driving without my pass side window for a while, and would like it back, any ideas of what it could be? also when i flick the switch up on the pass side window, it has power and you can hear the motor going up, when i flick the switch down this does not happen, the motor is dead, ive already changed the motor and know it works fine going both up and down. thanks in advance.

also "With the car engine off and key in # II position and dome light on... Look for slight dimming of the dome light while attempting troubled window. ( no dimming may mean voltage not reaching motor, dimming using up and down may indicate window is binding)"

There are three power window wires that run from the cabin into the passenger door to the passenger switch -- Blu/Yel, Blu/Orn, and Grn/Blk. One or more of those wires are broken, likely due to their flexing back and forth from open and closing the door for many years. The problem will likely be fixed by replacing those three wires.
ok, so do you think i should check these wires on the drivers side or passenger side? also, should i just run new wiring? or buy a new harness as mentioned above? also tried the domelight, no dimming at all, thanks.
