Default Whinning noise from the engine at start up

I have a question regarding noise coming from the engine at start up. The sound can be heard from inside the car. It occurs both when the engine is cold and warm. It lasts between 20-35 seconds at idle and then goes away. I'm trying to find out if it's the timing belt. The ac and ps belts have no cracks or frays and the ribs show no cracks. There are no gaps on the inside of the belt on the pulley. Thanks.

"75"-kind of hard to figure out here? Have you tried removing the belts to see which one makes the noise go away?

Is there bits of rubber around or fluid on the underside of the hood? Whinning usually indicates something is starting to go. My recent wine was the power steering pump, soon to follow was fluid slowly leaking out the shaft seal all over the hood. I'd start with belts though as poorman212 suggested.

The timing belt will not screech for 20 second then stop. The tension on your PS or ALT A/C belt is probably slack or one of them is worn out. Even if your belts aren't cracked they can still be dried and/or worn out. If you want to know which one it is. try spraying WD-40 on them while they are screeching. When you spray the right one it will stop. Then you'll know what one is loose or needs replacement.

I haven't had a chance to remove the belts. Will try to isolate the whine. I have approximately 230k, I suspect it is one of the 2 belts. Will get back to you on the oil splash and rubber bits. Thanks.
