modified Prelude vs. stock C5 Vette suspension which handles better???
a stock C5 Vette vs. a Prelude with 17x7.5" rims, Yoko Parada Spec 2's, Koni Yellows with Ground Control coilovers, will this outhandle a stock C5 Corvette? My friend has this set up, and he got better times at the autocross than a C5. I know driver ability has a lot to do with it, but if driver ability didn't have anything to do with it, would his Prelude (Mugen exhast, header, Iceman CAI, VAFC, short shifter) be able to take a C5 at an autocross?

EDIT: Sorry, 5th gen, 1997 Prelude.

wouldn't some 16 inch wheels make it handle better than those 17's? he shoulda gotten an SH if he really wanted some handling...
He got the wheels really cheap from a friend. I'm actually making this post cuz another friend and I are arguing about which is better. I'm with the 'Lude. BTW, he is going to get an LSD anyway, and that will be better than the ATTS unit, and probably make for a lighter car over an SH.

this really isn't a question that can be answered. all you will get are opinions. no facts really.
however, chances are if the vette driver can really drive the c5 will take the autocross. when you get a driver who can handle their car with lots of torque in an autocross it's amazing. very amazing sight.
a stock c5 is no slouch in handling.

yeah, I know Vette's handle nicely, but say both drivers are experts with their machines...then what?
Dude, its worthless comparing, Driver is the biggest factor in all of this, and Tires are the second biggest... To many veriables, not worth argueing about...
Corey - who has beaten tons of vetts, but also know they didn't have the best drivers....

to reply to the original question......
stock c5 pulls over 1g on skidpad, well, z06 anyway....you think a koni/gc prelude can do the same?
autocross has too many variables to judge handling

Well, that LSD might help him on launches, but it isn't going to be better that ATTS in cornering.
um.... what are you talking about. the ATTS is a sketchy LSD-like replacement. a real LSD would be much better than the ATTS in every aspect.

just noticed that you own an SH. no wonder you spew out misinformation like this.

Drive a type SH hard and then repeat that. A LSD prevents wheelspin on a launch, but won't transfer as much torque as ATTS. BTW, explain your reasoning behind ATTS being sketchy?

Actuall, I don't just spew out misinformation like this. I've driven a few cars with LSDs and they don't behave anything like the SH. I agree the ATTS is not exactly as cost effective as a factory LSD, but it adds something to driving that no LSD can add. Unfortunately its not something one can appreciate untill you push the car to the max. Do a little research on how ATTS works and what it does, then maybe you will start to see what I mean.

being able to pull more G's than another car doesn't necessarily mean it handles better.
there's more variables than that.

I have a 94 lude lowered with neuspeed sport springs and koni yellows. Not the stiffest springs but i like them. My dad has a 2001 vette and it out handles my prelude by far. Even with stiffer springs it would out handle my car. And when i comes to your friends car, i know if the C5 driver was actually good, he would have done alot better than the Lude.

I used to own a 97 with GC/Koni and I too beat up on some C5s at the track and also know that they didn't have the greatest drivers in them. That's like saying my J Stock M3 is faster than Ferrari Challenge cars because I lapped one once that was poorly driven. Also, ever notice that the feared cars at the autox have about 90hp to the wheels.
Duncan who has beaten up on C5s and drives one too
bah.. just play gran turismo 3 on ps2 and find out
