How to Lube auto shifter cable?
I am experiencing a little difficultly in shifting from Park to Neutral and found the culprit to be the shifter cable.
Checked over the helms manual, and all I see is replacement/adjustment, nothing on how to lube it-
I know Im supposed to lube it (at the pivot points) and that should fix the issue for the time being. Im just looking to fix it temporarily til I get home to change the cable.
Just a disclaimer---I ordered a new cable that I will install, however I wont have it until sometime next week, and Wednesday I have to go out of town for a couple of weeks, although the car will still be driven, just not with me around to fix it.... I wish honda would keep every 92-00 civic part in stock locally, alas I know that will never happen

Those cables have a Teflon inner layer between the outer sheath and the cable IIRC. If you try using any kind of a petroleum based lubricant you're most likely going to make it worse. Teflon spray lubricant *might* help.
no, didnt adjust it....it doesnt seem to need to be adjusted- it seems like its bound on something, so I figured it should just be lubed up to slide easier.
94EG8--- wouldn't it be me lubing the pivot points (which should be metal Id assume) and not the cable itself?
at least that was what I was guessing

Normally the cable itself starts chafing on the sheath and it needs to be replaced. I've never seen the pivot points start to seize up and I live in an area that uses a ton of salt in the winter.
Id assume thats what it is then...Ill just change it.
I got to wait til the sun goes down a little and then go climb under her and check it out... too hot at the moment.
