Is it worth 12k to you? because no one can gauge the worth of a car for you. different people sell their cars for differing prices and different people are willing to accept different offers. c'mon now, there's no set number for X condition with Y mods, be reasonable. If you're looking for a GO-AHEAD-BOBBY! from a webforum to determine if you should buy it or not, there's other issues for you to reflect upon within yourself.

Stop trying to be cool.
Back on topic then.
I wasn't trying to be cool, read what I said and if you can answer those questions to yourself, you have your answer, don't you? There's no going rate for a modded car, hell there's no going rate or steady opinion for what a stock car with X mileage will go for. Perhaps it was possible a few years ago, but I'll bet you overlooked the fact that over the past decade of production, S2000's are steadily disappearing due to wreck and theft.
1) not everyone can deal with a RWD twitchy car
2) the stolen seats + slashed top usually total the AP1's
3) snow/wet conditions that drastically compromise traction in the S2k
then there's people who can't afford payments and want to save their credit, the old man who doesn't care how much money he gets because it was a toy, the babymama drama needs, the guy who needs X amount to pay something else, etc. Varying sellers = variance in range.
Then there's the matter of what your intentions for the car are. If you're keeping it for several years, the difference in a couple thousand dollars won't matter if you get a better car in the end that runs and drives well right? So who cares, get what suits your needs and is within your budget.
So you tell me cool guy, how do you tell what it's worth? I'll say an AP1 is worth between 5-14k with a title that can be registered. but that's not helping is it? Be reasonable dude
Got my 01 for 9400 in 07, 03' for 10 racks in 08, 04' for 6.5k in 09', 00' for 8k in 10'. all varying condition, varying situations, varying mods. Cool story, bro?

Seriously though, either you're trying way too hard to be cool, or you're just a dick.
we own s2k's bro, we're just dicks...and a car is worth how much youre willing to pay for it point blank...i got mine for 13k when it was still booking for 17k, i also bought it from my best friend at the time...theres no way to say if a cars worth a certain amount or not, theres entirely way too many variables...like i said, its worth what youre willing to pay

I'm going to answer the last half of your post, rather than deal with most of your sanctimonious BS. Since you say there's no going rate, I'm simply looking for what would be a good offer. The little I did get out of your post helped. I simply bounced it off of KBB, mileage, condition and looked at what mods I would keep, and which I would sell.

Do you have 12000$ to spend on this car? Does the runner-up car (S or not) stack up in value vs. this car. How much more satisfaction will you get from this S over the runner-up car? Is it worth the price difference? Do you want a stock unmolested canvas or do you want bang for the buck? All these questions play a small role in decision making right? So when you count jelly beans of pros vs. cons(or opportunity cost in this case), which one wins? Are you patient enough for someone in a desperate situation, or is the difference in price meaningless because you're in for the long haul?
For me, as a high school student purchasing my first S, cheap was good. So when I found a 9400$ S2k with a clean title and it ran flawlessly I jumped on the deal (especially since trade-in was 11k in average condition according to KBB). So I got that car, then sold it a couple months later and made a few bucks.
2nd S was from here from a member in a grim predicament. Semi-stripped turbo S2k that made 400+whp, and he sold it to me for 10 racks but it needed some work. ~12 racks to smoke corvettes? I bought it.
3rd was someone who encountered black ice with only liability insurance. Clean title 04' S for under 10k when it was all said and done? I'm on board.
4th was a blown motor, with hardtop/coils/BBSLM's/etc. with clean title from original owner, I'll take it.
As you can see, these are all conditions that would make it very hard to sell for top dollar, but they are things that I was comfortable with because I'm fairly mechanically inclined and I know who to turn to should I encounter something that i wasn't capable of doing myself. So in the case of is this car worth it? Well, what do you mean by worth it? worth it to you or worth it to me? I'm willing to put in long hours, tons of work, etc. to save a buck because owning an S is a hobby for me, are you willing to do the same?
Just my dickly 2 cents on the matter because it really seems like you want us to make the decision for you. I will say one thing though, 90% of S owners don't regret ownership. Good luck, and that'll be my last reply since I'm sure I'll be misunderstood as a *****.

I really think you just don't get "dagle", he speaks the truth. It really seems like you just want people to make up your mind for you OR that you rely too much on others input. With that being said I don't think this S is worth 12k. Some people will object but I'm a money grubbing, I want everything for 3k under book value so I keep lots of money in my bank account type of dude. Everyone is different. I'll tell you what... You are considering buying this S2k for 12k. You can take this one off my hand for 14k. Not 13,999 but 14k. It barely ever sees the road. 2001 red carpet, black & red door panels, black seats, clean title and 60k miles. Open a thread to that. Located in Orlando, FL

Moving on. That car is hideous to me, sadly. Everyone has their own taste, and very few non-factory color cars appeal to me. Good plug, though.
Oh I see what you mean now. No, that one isn't worth it.
I got this one for 8, should wait for another one.

oh and this one was 10-12 total

Not really. I was using that car as an example to try and get a feel on what the cars are going for. You must be bored to try flamebaiting like that.
Good luck with the search, black_EM1. I'm on a similar quest.
