So I have a 2003 ES1 with a D17A1 dingle cam and an automatic transmission, but I wanna swap it for a manual transmission and a faster engine. Is K series engines my only realistic option? And If I did get a K swap, would I have to do the transmission and the engine at the same time? I'm trying to decide if I wanna spend the money on this swap, or just use the money to get an EK hatch. Thanks.

 

As far as motor swaps, yes. You could install a turbo kit and do an automatic-to-manual swap if you'd rather keep the D17.

As well as other items, yes.
