Icon2 92 accord 5spd, lighting relay and fuse issues

so every time i turn on my headlights, (2nd click of headlight switch) my "small lights" fuse blows. i replaced it with a larger amp fuse (i think too big) and now my lights (parking & headlights) stay on even when i take out the key. i actually have to take out the relay for the lights to go off. And i can now hear my lighting relay (under hood) make a distinct "clicking" sound when i turn on my high beams. Is my relay bad? am i gonna have more issues that i need to fix? any advice would help.. thanks

Never replace a fuse with a bigger one, it can, [has] cause problems, even burn your car to the ground.

By, "2nd click of headlight switch" I assume you mean head lights, as opposed to park lights, [first click].

Not exactly sure what you mean by, "small lights", is that the park lights, if so, did it not blow the fuse when only the park lights were, [first click] turned on?

I would start by unplugging the "Combination Light Switch" and replacing the fuse with the correct one, if lights go out, replace the CLS.

If the lights stay on when you unplug the CLS and both the park and head lights go out when you unplug the head light relay there must be a short between the park light circuit
and the head light circuit, they are separate circuits after the CLS. 94

having the ssort of the same issues my head lights dont stay on but the ac fan does. and the fuse just keeps blowing i had found a couple of spots where where the wire was cut fixed all that replaced the multifunction switch and the dimmer still nothing. it worked for a minute, made me happy turned the car off and on again gone right back to blown **** up
i realize this is an old post but i could really use some ideas. cuz right now i'm 2 steps away from striping the car of its harness and starting from scratch

Blower, [A/C fan] stays on?

Does it stay on when you turn off the ign. or just when you turn off the blower?

Exactly what fuse blows?

MM&Y of car would help, or is it also a 92 Accord? 94

we just disconnected the ac fan. but the small lights fuse keeps blowing. and I've gone threw and changed the bulbs, fuse and relay. along with the dimmer switch and multifunction switch. checked all the grounding in the engine bay. I've checked all the wires for brakes. everything is good.

OIC the A/C condensor fan, not the blower.

Small lights fuse, do you mean park/running lights?

Do you have an aftermarket HU, [head unit/stereo] in the car, if so, pull the Hu ans check the wiring in the stock radio harness, make sure the red/black lead is not connected to anything and is not shorting to ground, [HU case, dash sub frame, cars chassis].

If your A/C condensor fan is staying on then you probably have a bad condensor fan relay or rad fan control module, check the relay. 94

the Ac condensor fan is on constantly. we just unplugged it, there is no ac. no point in having it.

Yes the cluster lights, running lights, tail lights, and others. I think the glove box, vanity lights. Everything that is running off of the small lights fuse under the dash.

Yes there is an aftermarket head unit in the car. Never had issues before. But so far as i can tell that is the only other thing that was install. with the exception of a P.O.S. aftermarket alarm/security system that didn't work right, and was poorly installed. I removed the alarm the first night. I had hopes that it would help fix the issue. It did for a moment, then the issue returned.

I am beginning to think it has to be in the wiring somewhere inside the dash. I have been threw quite a few fuses in attempts to fix this issue. Every time i think the issue is fixed i go to put the dash in and the fuse blows the next time the car is turned on. Really starting to **** me off.

and i will check the relay for the fan. lately more concerned about the lights. no tail lights= no driving, and my hommie is definitely more of a night driver. so when he gets here i will check the grounds, wires and fuse box s again. I didn't really think to check the head unit, it was installed at a shop. but i will look it over.

thank you keep shooting me ideal i can use. appreciate it

Unfortunately I do not have a wiring diagram for a 92 Accord so I can't direct you to any specific point, other then the HU, it is not an uncommon problem because most aftermarket HUs do not need an illumination input so the red/black lead in the stock radio harness does not get used, so if it is "floating" around and not caped off or is getting pinched under the HU it will intermittently, [or constantly] short out so every time you turn on the lights, the fuse blows.

Also check around any wires the alarm was wired to, it's park light output could have been connected to a red/black lead for park light flash, maybe there is a bare red/black wire somplace. 94

Ok figured it out. for any one who has this issue and your not having issues with wiring or anything like that. Disconnect the battery. change lights fuse. and completely install the dash every screw. There are a couple that are ground screws. so put them all in. fixed the issue for me
