my friend replaced the leftside axle on his 91 accord last night and the car drove fine last night and this morning but then he was driving this afternoon at 25mph and then it seemed like he let off the gas and the car would just rev.....he got it towed home and when he puts it in gear it just revs and the speedo goes up but the car wont move....when the car is off and in gear it wont roll but when he pushes the clutch in it will roll..he replaced the rightside axle and it didnt fix the problem....anyone have any ideas? TIA

 

Is the left side axle properly installed? Is the inner joint fully seated in the tranny?

 

yes that has been checked 3 times

 

Put it in gear and see what's spinning and what's not. Since the speedo is moving, you know the diff. is turning, so that leaves it to the axles. What's turning, what's not?

 

maybe the forks in the tranny is lose.....but id check to see if the axle is seated in the tranny

 

Sounds like the axle is broken at the tranny. Seen it on a friends hatch. The axle end that mates with the tranny is broken and it just spins in the tranny.

Looks ok from the outside cause the axles still where it supposed to be. Pull the axle and it has no splines cause there still in the tranny.
