Shifting problem
I can't shift to any gear besides neutral when going high RPM [7500RPM+]. EX: When shifting from one gear to another, seems like the tranny locks me out. So what I do is wait in neutral until RPM drops THEN i can shift to desire gear...
ITR tranny has about 60k [fluid well maintained]. ACT HDPP, lite flywheel, street disk, gsr linkage, sk2 short shift.
Disk seems fine since i can roll from 2nd. A friend told me:
1. sk2 short shifter sucks on ITR tranny.
2. clutch fork needs to be upgraded to beefier one.
anybody had this problem?
any inputs?

Todd, it doesn't matter. Please, I have really had it with your "it's not a Type-R, GTFO!" stuff. As a coordinator of ITR Expo and ITRCA, please, don't add to the ITR elitism. You are knowledgeable and a good member. Don't bash everyone unless truly warranted.

I just went through a year long clutch/shifting issue. Please be more specific. What does the car do when the engine is off? Does it shift into gear ok then? How about shifting while on jack stands and the car is running? Only when cold? Hot? Etc...these details helped me narrow my absolutely insane situation.

As for the rest, being real and being elite are two completely different things. I don't knock folks who own other Hondas, but this forum isn't an ITR parts open mic night, either. Call me crazy, but all of the stolen ITRs has kind of made me calloused to these questions.

Seriously, how may of us touch our trannys besides maybe upgrading the diff and FD? Not very many. I'm sure if OP posts again an entire other can of worms will open up.
As always, just saying that there are probably better places to ask this question, even though I know I'm stirring the pot...

*Quote from a friend about my problem* "Those synchros are locking you out of the next gear while they try to synchronize the shaft speeds. It's a good thing. That means they are working but have not yet got the shaft speeds matched. If they let you in gear before the shafts are synchronized you'll grind gears (bad)."
Helpful, but didn't really give me a solution.
My bad. I should have known that we all upgrade our trannys with GSR linkage and such. And FWIW, I hadn't flamed OP just *yet*.

Yes, ITR theft sucks *** but not everyone with an ITR part on a non-ITR has a stolen part.
And beyond that, if the fix for the OPs problem helps another "real itr owner" then the thread served real purpose in the ITR community no?
*cough*OP bastardized tranny*cough*

And I just had my trans completely torn apart to replace the clutch housing mainshaft bearing. And I've had other trans apart too for bearing, synchro, etc replacements. A number of people in this forum have.
OP: How are you shifting, ie keeping your right food down, trying to shift as fast as possible or a "normal" shift? Dump that POS short shifter.
Trending Topics
I had an ITR trans on my old GSR for years, GSR shift linkage and all. The linkage weights are designed to work with the lighter GSR shift ****. The weighted ITR one takes place of the weights on the shift linkage. Beyond that, same shiz.
And yeah, many ITR owners have had to redo their stuff, myself included. My entire trans/clutch system has been re-done due to wear.
...
OP: shift normally instead of slamming into gears and let us know how that is. You might want to do a few checks such as clutch fluid and urea grease.
A stronger clutch fork though? No, stock is fine as long as it is not cracked. I didn't even know you could buy a stronger one.

this sounds like a syncro problem i had this same problem on my old gsr trans in 2nd 3rd and 4th it would either not go in or grind doing it i put a syncrotech kit in and it was solved!
this may sound trivial, but replace the slave cylinder and the clutch master. Mine would hold me out of gears just like you're describing and it ended up being the slave not traveling enough to release the clutch completely. So low RPM shifting wasn't an issue but higher RPMs it would hold me out of gear. It was VERY annoying!
Those are the easy fixes, most anything will have you pulling the trans off to look at the internals.

Enough said?
This argument is as old as this forum, but seeing how we specifically have a forum (that seems just as active as this one) for drivetrain questions...the question might be better suited there. Is that fact so hard to ignore?
I troll because I care.

You either seperate it out like made and kill the ITR forum itself (because it's pointless, literally every question could be asked in a driveline, trans, engine, suspension, appearance, interior, etc forum) or you let all ITR related (cars and parts) questions reside here, WHICH WAS THE INTENTION OF THE FORUM!
If you cared, you'd just help answer the question (if you have a suggestion/answer) so when the owner of ITR 01-01237123 or whatever searches for it in the ITR forum they'd be able to find the answer.
So no, you troll because you like to do so, not because you care about helping ITR owners, directly and indirectly.
And how many ITR owners are going to search there instead of here for ITR trans related problems?

It is this simple: If the integrity is not going to be preserved, then there is absolutely no reason for this place to exist. I can say this until I am blue in the face and no one cares. It is only when I mock posts (such as this one) is when folks start to chime in.
Since there was a mod turnover (and when I stopped modding this forum), it has slowly been sinking to a parts-swap forum. For folks like you, this is fine as you employ these theories. For me, I'd rather read about someone taking their ITR to the track and their suspension and setup questions. I could frankly give two dumps less about a JDM B18C into a 96 Civic sedan that has ECU issues. But OMG it could help like .01% of the people here that don't know how to search!!!
If I want to know about X part into Y car, then I'll search the other forums.
Regardless, we should probably spawn a new thread. Or, OP could just take his question into a forum where people put different trannys into different chassis' all the time.
By what you claim to want this place to be though those things should really be posted in the road race or suspension forums and not here. You're standing quite alone on all these issues you have with a healthy and functional forum. All you're doing is running off all the technical help
There was a reason why the ITR forum was created (apart from the normal Integra forum). If those days are gone, then just kill this forum because all we see in here are ITR parts questions anyhow.

I come to this forum to read about ITR's only. Not waste my time reading about some yahoo's swap questions. If I cared about some other models I would visit those forums and participate in them. But, I don't. What is so hard about an ITR forum being ITR specific? Seems pretty basic to me.
Maybe the CATS can figure it out....
what is so hard about hitting the back button and moving the fack on??
He asked a question about a specific part related to this section (ITR). He didn't ask anything about a swap, or what is would work with. It being attached to another motor plays ZERO part in what could be causing his issue with an ITR transmission.
You wanna-be elitist a-holes. You drive/want to drive Integras for crying out loud. To my knowledge they don't even make a jacket for that. Like the corvette ***s have. Chill out already.

In fact, I replace both my clutch cylinders 7 months ago with Exedy/Daikin brand. I never ran my car hard so i found out this problem 3 months ago. i will try to find some OEM cylinders and test.
I didn't know myself until my friend told me about it. apparently there are heavy duty versions. I will do more test runs today for observations.

If your clutch fork is stamped P80 (probably can't tell unless you remove the trans), then that's the right fork. If you do not see any cracks on the back of it, it's good to go. Do not bother with another fork as that is the one you need.
High rpm shifting issues are usually synchro related or clutch related (i.e. clutch is not completely engaging). Is it smoother if you double clutch? If so, that says synchro. If not, then it's clutch related.
...
As far as rest the rest of b.s. in here, the only thing being preserved by some are the elitist snobbery. That's pretty lame to me. I agree, some things do not belong here. However, there is a professional way of saying it instead of coming across as a complete jerk who thinks the ITR is God's Chariot (though I thought that was the EF Si for auto-x
). I like mine, but it's not that awesome. Also note that many that are left are either in need of some serious overhaul either due to theft or simple age and use (such as mine).

Unless you own an Itr you shouldn't be posting in here. Post in the appropriate sub-forum or in a model specific forum for your vehicle.
I frequent the Itr forum to read about Itr's and Itr related things, not someone who has a civic with an itr motor that has a cel on or (insert problem here)
For those of you screaming about "oh this might help an Itr owner at some point" or the "help or get the f*ck out" grow the f*ck up. Anyone with half a brain can search and see that this has been covered many times over in one form or another.
Bottom line...Does the OP own an Itr? No. So where should this be posted? Transmission and driveline or the integra section.
This bullshit of "its an itr part so itr owners would know best" that seems to be an excuse on the rise is pathetic at best. Any decent mechanic should be able to diagnose and fix a problem. Just because its an itr part doesnt mean itr owners are the final or only authourity.
Couldn't agree with this more. By no means am I an Itr eliteist(hell I dont even own one), but there was a reason this forum was made seperate from the integra section.

I don't see why keeping this forum homogeneous is all that bad of an idea. I come in here to read about Type R's. I go into the S2K forum to read about S2k's, not some guy who has questions about an S2K cluster in his 97 hatchback. Am I correct???
Quit bringing up the lame @ss fingerpointing of ITR "elitists". That has absolutely Z E R O to do with this. You know it, but it's the default argument for those who can't understand what this is all about.
And it's not like we don't have a plethora of forums here. If we only had 5, I could understand the cross-talk. But we DON'T. We have a proper home for posts such as these.
