Heat wrapping headers good?

I know this has been covered many times, sorry, but I wanted to know from someone first hand who has actually done it. Was there a big gain in doing it? Also my eg came with dc sport headers, are those ceramic? If so, I heard I dont need to wrap them. No, I dont have a high hp motor nor run a turbo either. Just curious

I heard it wont rust much if you use special paint or have ceramic headers, I guess ill try it since I got the wrap free

I have no idea if there is any advantage to wrapping a header other than greatly reducing the under the hood temp. I installed an Airmass ceramic header about 6yrs ago on my 95 del sol. After removing the oem heatsheid, lifting the hood in the summer was unbearably hot. Once I wrapped the header, the temp was much, much better. I would guess it was cut in half, but I didn't measure the temp before and after.
I have heard this aswell. I have also heard this question a few times but I have never actaully seen any solid proof that it helped with anything.
Although, I have seen turbo guys swearing by wrapping the down pipes.
I would love to see someone with any gains/ or significant temp drops after wrapping the header.

This is somewhat true. I actually wrapped my headers on my ek and havent seen much rust accumulation even after racing in the rain a couple of times. I definitely does help when keeping temp down and makes the car feel somewhat better in my opinion..

One thing to consider, heat wraps void most header warranties. I even have my intake wrapped with it. Put a big metal tube in the engine bay and calling it a "Cold Air Intake"
. All that metal pipe does is act like a big heat sink, thus heating up the air going into the engine. I've been doing it for a few years, and I just saw a wrap for sale in the latest issue of JEGS. A tech I worked with went to UTI and they did hp tests, and the biggest hp gain they got was putting a piece of cardboard between the intake and the engine compartment, thus insulating the intake.

there is an advantage. thats why most aftermarket headers come ceramic coated. ceramic coated headers are like headers with heat wrap. (trap in heat/prevent rust) keep engine bay cooler.ceramic coatings retain heat in the exhaust system increasing exhaust flow.
