Default M&H Street/Strip 235-60-15

I'm lookin to order a new set of tires for the street and I'm kinda torn between 3 different tires but am leaning really hard to a bias ply.
Im either going to go with:

- M/T ET street radial
- Hoosier QTP D.O.T. bias ply
- M&H Street/strip D.O.T. bias ply

As of right now, I have a completely bald set of 275-50-15 M/T ET street radials fitted on the car but they seem like they are going limit my turning radius way too much for the street. Id like to run a smaller tire but im really trying to minimize spinning as much as possible. My power goal this year is between 600-650whp in a fully gutted EG hatch. Id like to hook full boost in 3rd gear with my Gsr trans.

From some info I have gathered from ppl with first hand experience it seems that the M&H street/strip are superior to the other brands. Id also like to see some more input from other members on here who are hooking big power on the street. Thanks in advance guys!

I used the M&H on my old street car and they worked great. I had a ls trans though so the gears were a little longer but they should still work pretty good. I'm not a big fan of Hoosier and have had good experience with M/T as well but the tire is a lot harder then the M&H

The hoosier and mts are going to spin a lot more than the m&h. I have all three sets along with other brands at the shop. Hard to find a tire to compare to the m&h on the street.

Good luck!

Yeah for that power level the M&H would be your best bet if you don't want 275's.

Ya from what you had said the other night on the phone, it seems that most other ppl are saying the same thing. A few ppl say they have had good luck with hoosiers but they had never used the m&h. Also all the other threads i have searched are all for the m&h tire. Its just that in those threads there isnt alot of input. Any more news with your car? I finally got mine to my fabricator so its getting closer!!

The 275s are nice and meaty but really limit my turning. Im not tryin to make a 13 pt turn at the gas station lol. Dk was saying he was hooking 500whp in 2nd gear (ramping the boost in progressivly obviously). Id be more than thrilled with that! lol

I would suggest converting to RWD.

Lol I guess I never really thought of that Carey.. Hmm. Haha Id really like to have an s2k. The thought of selling this car to get a s2k and turbo it has more than once crossed my mind. Its just hard to get rid of it because a turbo hatch is always what ive wanted to build ever since I got into cars.

That sucks man. Is it a stock tranny? I was really hoping to see that thing make a few passes this year.

Wont these be 26" tall. I thought that was a bad size cause it puts a lot of stress on the trans. They really need to make a 225/50/15 street and strip

Ya they are actually 25.4 inches tall. They do put more stress on the driveline but I really only want these for doing rolls on the street. I have 24.5" slicks for the track.

I had 630whp and I ran the 235/60/15 and loved them. They would usually hook really well in 3rd. I ran theses on the street and on the track i would cut 1.7 60ft! Best street strip tire I have ever had.

That's music to my ears! Were the bias ply's really sloppy on the street or were they pretty manageable?

There really should be an "OFFICIAL REAL STREET CAR" thread on here with pictures and details on your setup. This means you must regularly drive the car and not just around the culdesac and back in the garage/trailer! This way we can show and discuss our tire and suspension setups!

Go MH. They are fine on the street. Just remember to preload.

As long as u have enough air in them they do great on a dd. I drove my car and took my son to the babysitter everyday on these tires! I have drove on multiple 200'mile round trips w/ these tires and raced on the sameones for a full season!!! I have nothing but, great things to say about these tires!

Im really surprised a bias ply lasted that long. That is awesome tho. I was worried about them being to sloppy on the streets since my bfg drag radials were horrible last year.

Your setup must be off because I have had mine on for 4k miles and very little wear. The problem is the tire is too tall IMO. If memory serves me correctly the M&H's in the same size are shorter than the MT's. My only complaint on the MT's are they aren't that great in the rain, but neither is any "drag" tire.

If I was in your shoes I would look at your alignment and or suspension.

Ya the mt's are 26.1 inches tall and the m&h are 25.4 I believe.
