93 ej1 w/GSR swap wont start
Hey everyone im new to the site as well as hondas. Which im sure will be pretty apparent, pretty quick..hah.
This is my first honda, and im sure buying someone elses problems off of CL wasnt the best idea.. But hindsight is always 20/20. Anyways, I bought the car about 6 months ago and it ended up having a spun rod bearing. Sent it to a machine shop, had the crank and rod fixed (yea i know some ppl say you shld replace them, but i didnt) and had it all assembled. Got everything put on the engine and put it back in the car and plugged everything in, and yes my g101 is on. It turns over fine but there is no power going to the fuel pump, but the pump IS good. I took it out and tested it. And there is power going to the coil, but no spark. Has a brand new coil, rotor and icm, and the plug wires are all good. Its the same harness and ecu(p28) that was in the car when i drove it the 100 miles home. Is there a plug i could be missing or connected to the wrong plug? All of the them seem to be different, so i dont think they could be plugged in wrong. I could definately be wrong on that tho.
Like i said, i am new. So take it easy on me, ive seen how some of you tear people apart for not searching or knowing exactly what they're talking about. But ive searched, and read for hours..
Im not sure if thats really enough info for you guys to go off of, but ask me any questions and ill get you as much info as i can.
Thanks

Not yet. But i have spark and fuel now.. It wants to start, but just backfires out the exhaust. Seems like timing to me? I guess im going to try putting it on tdc on #1, and see where the cam marks are. Anyone have any other ideas.
Thanks for any replies, really appreciate it.

Fuel pump primes now, still just backfires. I find it really hard to believe that not one person on here can help.. Besides "check ur grounds".. I have spark i have fuel, the marks on the cams line up on tdc. WTMF??????? Definately my first and last honda..
Dude you give like no info for us to help you. How do you suppose we help. Alot of us are mechanics and can help you, but do you know what its like to explain **** to poeple who have no idea what they are talking about? Are you sure your wires are on your cap are in the right firing order? Thats what it sounds like to me...
Yes, the wires are on right. Dnt gotta be a d*ck bro... I DID put in my original post "if this isnt enough info, ask me any questions and ill get you as much info as possible"
Anyways, the injectors arent getting any power, or pulse... Besides about 20 plugs that have nowhere to plug into (from the car) this is the only wire that isnt hooked up to anything and i cant find where it goes. Its long too, its on the driver's side, and can reach to the negative terminal on the batt. I kinda remember cutting it while taking the motor out, because it was wired to somethin on the harness, im GUESSING. It was like 6 months ago, i just cant remember where it goes..

Lmao, and I DO know what im talking about. Doesn't take a genius to logically go thru an engine step by step...***. But when the timing is RIGHT, and there is spark and fuel.. It kinda makes even u, mr. mechanic, stop and think for a sec. But what do i know.. apparently nothing, right?
i had a similar problem this week on my swap. my A.C.G. fuse blew and my ecu wasn't on and fuel pump wasn't priming. this fuse is located under he dash. it's a 15 amp fuse. also check your ecu fuse under the hood. What ecu are you running for the swap? also sometimes people switch there tps and map sensor so see if you switch the plugs from these sensors if it makes the car run. Also another reason a car wont start after a swap is because of the harness. i had a problem like this also and i switched the harness and the car started no problem, also maybe your starter is bad? or that little wire that goes into the side of it might be loose. or the starter signal fuse. so you said the fuel pump and grounds are good and the plugs and dizzy etc so i think that's about it. try those things.
-check those fuses
-switch the tps and map sensors and try starting the car
-double check all your grounds ( thermostat, tranny ground, valve cover, starter, alternator) and the 2 that go into the fuse box under the hood for the battery.
-see if a friend has another ecu you can try to plug in quick.
-check starter and starter signal fuse and little wire for starter.
-maybe injectors are bad? or harness for that needs to be switched because there in the wrong order.
-check harness, maybe you need a new one.
that's about all the things i can think of. sorry for the long post and good luck. lmk if anything of these was the problem.

Thanks for the reply. Turns out the haynes book gave me the wrong firing order, so i redid the plug wires and it starts but i cant give it any gas or itll just stumble. Its throwing cel codes 3, 6, 10, 14, 16. I looked them up, just havent got a chance to mess with the car yet, called it a night after i got the codes
