Hey guys, I just got lucky enough to land front and rear Spoon Sports 1st Gen EG6 two hooks. these:


I've been searching the net like crazy to see pics of the front hook installed.
I know where it mounts to, that's not the problem.

The only pic I can find of it installed shows it going through a spoon lip vent...

My question is,,, If I have the OEM sir lip... will the spoon tow hook clear it?
If I took a guess I'd say yes..

just want some input from the gurus out there.

Well the only way to know for sure is mount it, or just hold it in the postiton it should be in.
Worst case is you need to mod the lip, or buy the spoon lip

I would say that it wouldn't fit correctly with moding the lip

they are rare, plus the fact that no one is going to spend that much money for a stupid set of tow hooks. I've seen those damn things go for $800! You'd have to one hell of a "JDM fan boy" or just stupid to buy those for that price.

 

well I lived in japan for 3 yrs when I was a kid. I used to collect baseball/basketball cards when I was a kid.. Now I collect rare jdm parts.

I've spent $120 for benen tow hooks front and back. sold them to buy:

Ah well I agree, but damn $500 for tow hooks!? Oh well. Different strokes for different fokes? To each his own? lol

thats good i was safe with my audi 2 years back too parked it next to cameras at the store and one day some douchebags ripped into my convertible top and stole my $500 dollar sunglasses so i stopped buying expensive **** after having sunglasses for 2 days

Wow to the sunglasses and the expensive-for-no-reason tow hooks. Looks like you'll have to find a real Spoon lip to go with those hooks cause they won't clear the one you have. It's so obvious that they won't by looking at the pic you provided.

Something tells me you already knew that and are trying to show off that you scored these hooks.

 

As for tow hooks. I can make a set that would hold up just as well and be just as functional for around $50. What makes a JDM 1/4" thick piece of steel with holes machined into it over an American 1/4" thick pieck of steel with the same holes machined into it?

Besides, buying tow hooks for a street only driven car is "rice" (Race Inspired Cosmetic Enhancements).

 

On top of that those things don't even look functional. A tow hook held on by what looks to be a socket head screw? C'mon son.

and no, If I look at the picture and look at my bumper/lip it looks like it WILL clear it. It might touch it, but won't be mashing it.

I sense a jealousy, and a American made is better thread coming on here.

yeah, my tools are craftsman, and my garage is mostly MADE IN USA or Japanese.

And if you haven't noticed yet, these cars are from JAPAN, and the best quality parts are FROM JAPAN.

So I didn't do what almost everyone can do. buy a honda and make it fast. Fast is last for me. The hard to get rare parts is first.

I build this way for a reason. extinction.
