Rock Damaged Winshield While Test Driving
Hi all,
I have a question and would appreciate help from any of you regarding what I should do. Over the weekend I decided to go test drive an S2000, and my first time test driving a car ever in the past 12 years, a a rock hit the windshield and damaged it badly. It created a 1 inch diameter star crack and it definitely needs to be replaced in order for them to sell the car. So the question is, am I responsible for the damaged? The saleman was shocked as was I, but he didn't say anything about me being responsible for the damaged because he and I both knew it was an accident. I don't know though, the dealer might end up sending me the claim and what should I do now?
Thanks.

But let say in the event that they go after me and I have to pay for it, then it shouldn't cost too much to replace the windshield right since the dealer can get OEM parts much cheaper and have their technicians do the labor? I know this sounds silly but if a customer has to pay for this kind of unintentional accident, the least they can do is provide the installation service and order the parts using their connection with the Honda manufature.

you do not have to pay for it... if they try and even ask you to pay for it i would say fawk you and take your business elsewhere...
Thanks for your inputs everyone. I hope to get the S2000 very soon and the car was a beast compared to my 99 Integra. I didn't redline it but took it upto 6K RPM from 1st to 4th gears. It was extremely fast, and a little scary too actually. I wonder what my reaction would be if I redlined it.
haha - if you only took it to 6k, just wait till you take it to 9. All the fun starts at around the 6k rev mark.
Go steady though, it's a significant difference after 6k

9k all the way. also they probably wont even install an oem windshield. typically if its still there inventory they will fix it as cheap as possible. probably call there usual guy and he will have it installed in less than 30 minutes.
I hope what you said ^ is true. BTW, it was an 08, so it relines at 8K. The saleman was riding with me and we were on our way back to the dealer before the incident happened. I remembered he was like "woa woa, this thing is fast......" and then came the nickel size rock hitting the windshield while I was going 60MPH. We both became silent for like 30-45 secs and not said anything as if we had nothing to say to each other on the first date. According to you guys, it seems that I might have blew some of his natural hair off if I did engaged in Vtec. Damn, I should've VTEC it to find out.
There is a thread somewhere on s2ki about the windshield design/angle and it being more prone to rocks and debris. My s2000 has a tiny 2/4in crack from one and my co-worker recently had his window spider crack inches out from a rock.
