differential choices?

You will need to pull the one off of your stock diff and transfer it over. Gently use a bearing type puller and make sure it gets a good even grip... Just got to be careful not to chip the teeth. Some LSDs have the gear built into them and come with their own speedo gear for the speedo assembly. But, M-Factory, Quaife, and Wavetrac will need a transfer of your stock gear over to thier differential.
For drag and daily driving with no chatter: Quaife, M-Factory, or Wavetrac...all three of them are awesome.
For Road racing and some daily driving with possible chatter depending on how they are set up: Carbonetic, Kaaz, or Cusco...also awesome for road racing as they allow adjustability of how they are engaged. They can be used in drag but, more suitable for road race/course applications. You can set them up for less chatter and using certain fluids can also help with chatter.

drag and daily will be the primary uses of the car, should i go with helical or clutch, and how much do i really need to be spending? Would an OEM diff from a type-r work? Really didnt want to dump 800 into just the diff but while im getting the trans upgraded (its actually an auto :x most people are confused on how that works with using the manual trans diffs) but if its worth the performance gain on the drag strip, its worth it.
Well the M-Factory units are pretty affordable...the Wavetracs are also pretty close...the Quaife unit is a tad higher. As for the Type R diff...There are two different B series differential/ring gear bolt patterns: the GSR/Type R and the B16/LS. So just depends on the bolt pattern for the ring gear you will be using. Interested to see this conversion.

alrighty thanks for the information, ill have to pick up a spare trans to pull apart first and see what the diff looks like and match it up to the particular style i need.
you can get a obx diff if you dont mind buying $40 worth of washers and bolts then putting them in the diff. obx is roughly around 400 if you dont mind doing alittle bit of work overhauling it

my OBX in my GSR has been handling 500+ for a good while. Lots of highway pulls on it.
Just now upgraded the washers and bolts, because I broke 4th gear so it was apart already.

i have been actually considering that i just have concerns about taking it apart and putting it back together right lol also, where would i find upgraded washers and such that would work properly for the diff?

OBX is the **** as far as I'm concerned. If rebuilt correctly it seems to hold a ton of power with zero issues. Not sure why anyone wouldn't want one. Unless you make some insane power and have every other upgrade where the trans is the weak spot. But it's all opinion at this point.
Yep, bad castings, run out issues, washers in wrong, threads not fully tapped. Wood inside the diff,
Figure 2 hours to "fix" an OBX + parts.
Then you have to shim the damn thing, that can be another hour if you have to make a custom shim. Have fun getting the ring gear bolts on. a 14mm thin wall socket wil only last for three OBX's.
Or you can buy an MFactory, drop it in, check shim clearance, button up the tranny. I've installed 5-6 MF's now, I've yet to have to change a shim.
In the end, the price will be the same. Make your installer happy, get the better LSD.
I've only messed with ONE OBX since Aquafina and I had run out issues, it was an OBX that I'd installed before.
HINT: B series oil control rings don't work as diff shims. They are too brittle and crack.

Quaife has been around a lot longer and are made in the UK. M-Factory is also a well made product and we have not had one single issue with them. Both have a lifetime warranty! Tough one!
