My 1989 CRX Project
I needed a gas saver for work. I went on CL and found this 1989 CRX for $900. The thing is, I am completely new to Imports. Here's what I have done so far:
- Pulled the racer bumpers off.
- Purchased stock bumpers and rocker panels from a junk yard.
- Checked the A/C, it has a small leak. I started a Q/A thread here: A/C work on my 89 CRX
- The starter solenoid is jacked up, so i have to jump it to start.
All in all its a good little car. Once I have the bumpers on, A/C working, and factory White paint back on, it will be a nice car!

Here's a quick question. I pulled some front seat belt buckles off the junkyard 88crx(same car I got the other parts from). Problem is, my 89 has buckles attached to the rails and the seatbelts come out of the door. Are the door seatbelts only on the 89????
looks like a good project glad you are bringing it back from the dark side.
Only issue you might have is looks like there is a lot of bondo on that back passenger quarter so your bumper might not line up correctly.
When you got the factory rear bumper did you get the corner supports that attach to the bumper and the body.
Looks like yours are missing.

Ok, so I now have an extra set of body mount front seat belt buckles.
Thanks TREBLE. Also, yes, while I was pulling off the rear bumper I noticed those brackets. I snagged them too. I lined up the rear bumper last night and it seems fine but the support is bent downward as you can see from the pics. I tried bending it back in place with a breaker bar, no luck. Are there only two bolts that hold on the support??? That's all I can see from underneath.

Its been awhile, had a busy 2nd half of 2011. Well now the CRX has a blown motor. I know the motor in it now is a 1.6L, its an automatic. I need this car for work, so now I'm looking to replace the motor.
Things I need to know:
- Which motors bolt right in?
- VTEC or Non-VTEC?
- What electrical mods are necessary?
*A Honda friend of mine told me a B-series motor should bolt right in. I still would have to replace the tranny and axles to the engine spec.
