A LOONNGG holy WTF of problems!!
ok, well I just bought this car and before i go ANY further im going to go ahead and say it, This is my first honda. For years I have wanted to get one but i have always been stuck on Neons, owned over 40 n the past 10 yrs. anyways onto the problem
the car is a 91 ef hatch, I have just bought this car 2 days ago and have been trying to fix someone elses screw ups.
This is what I KNOW FOR SURE ALREADY-
has DPFI to MPFI conversion
has PM7 ecu-which by reading which ecus goes to what, seems i have a JDM dohc zc ecu running my d15b2!!
has d15b2 block(not sure on which head, do not know how to tell either)
that is about it. now the problems i am having is this.
When you go to start the car, it turns over at least 10 times if not more. when your driving, see it has no rpm gauge and the speedometer cable is broke so i cant say at so and so speed or rpm is is doing these problems but im guessing around 1500rpms to 2000rpms, is when it starts messing up, it like falls on its face, spits and sputters, not if you only push the throttle down maybe a 1th of the way, it somewhat runs ok, but the car will NOT GET OUT OF ITS OWN WAY for the life of it. Now I already can tell the injector wiring is all kitty wompus!!! Now standing in front of the car, from right to left. they have the first injecto plugged in with the stock wiring, but then they have (2) wires going from the 1st injector to the 2nd injector. from there we move to the next injector which is the third (again your standing in front of the car looking at the engine) injector, they used the factory plug coming from the harness, then we move to the 4th injector, again they have
(2) wires going from the 3rd injector to the 4th. now I mean MAYBE by chance that is how you do the swap, and if so WOWWW is this way different from the other cars i have owned, i mean i have done swaps in neons where you move injector wires around and what not but not running 2 injectors of the same 2 wires i mean come on.
now i took about half of the harness off at work just so i could see what was oging on behind the motor, and it looks like a dam spider web and rats nest mixed together. a few plugs that are not plugged in. I was going to go to the junk yard right now(just got off work) but i wanted to run home and post a thread and then go, my plan is to find another harness and "TRY" and follow the how to of swapping DPFI - MPFI..
And sorry this is kind of log guys but this is driving me insane the crap im trying to fix. now lets move onto another issue shall we?..
I have NO interior lights, wait let me retrack that, the ONLY lights i have that go on inside the car are- check engine(which i assum is on from some unsed plugs, and the wrong ecu, please correct me on any thing i say or do wrong, yell scream call me names just tell me the RIGHT way to do this), and i think a few more of the center of the cluster lights. no lights behind the fuel, temp, speedo, hvac controls. although i put my headunit in and works ok. I have not tried the cig lighter plug yet though.
Things i have done to try and fix interior lighting-
checked ALL fuses i could find in the car and in engine bay
Took the cluster out and checked all bulbs
Used test light on every pin on the connectors going into cluster, turning headlights on every time i switch to a new pin, now i had one of the turn on when i turned the headlights on, but no lights in the cluster, which ok even if that was the case, (even tho i checked) there were some burnt lights, you mean to tell me EVERY light is burnt out on the interior, which it is not because i have checked them.
I have no dome light, although there is no bulb, i put a brand new one in from my work and still nothing, not even getting power with test light in dome light.
the car is a project/ trying to make it daily avaiable for right now. My plans are soon to do a LS swap with b16 trans, and then boost(mmayyybe nitrous)not sure yet- within 6 or so months.
but i need the problems it has now fixed before i go off and dig into a swap or boost or nitrous.
can any one help with any of these prblems, if you need pictures, well i may go take some pix her ein a minute, but i will take pix of ne thing you need to see, tell you codes on what ever you need. i just need this thing to run decent for a little bit, i have already put a brand new oem clutch, brand new oem clutch cable, oem throw out bearing and pilot bearing the day i bought it. now i was also reading the how to and noticed something about a si distributor and swapping tps wires, how can i tell if i have a si dis and if they had swapped the wires during there wreck of a swap!

BTW thank you in advance to any info you provide, i have been searching so please do not send me to links, i have been to almost every link in the past 36 hours!!!

and btw i do not know which model hatch this is, anyone tell me how to tell with a glimps, it has been repainted a dark hunter green but the paint under that(needs paint and body work) is like a teal si green!
Here is how to ID if it's an Si or not through your VIN #... (I doubt it is since a Si came with MPFI and a D16A6)...

Sounds like your wiring is obviously hacked. If you have searched so much then why haven't you looked up DPFI to MPFI swaps to verify your wiring is correct? (From what you say it isn't correct at all, by the look of it.) Posting pictures is your best friend on the Internet because we can't see what is going on. Also, the PM7 is for the ZC... but first I would fix the wiring issues first. Sounds like you have problems both inside and out with your wiring. Your cluster could have been shorted out - or your wiring is hacked by the ECU. Did you look for burn marks on back of the cluster? Did you check the dome light for +12v? The light is activated by grounds on the door switches. These corrode and break apart all the time. The stamping on the distributor will tell you what it is.
Wait you say some of the cluster lights work? Yes - these bulbs burn out all the time and the climate control ones are usually the first to go... I can tell you are a newb to Hondas... You talk more backwards than a monkey wearing a hat on his ***.
Everything I just said and told you is all in the FAQs... So I don't know what you are searching...

Yes, In my origanal thread, it clearly says i have used a test light to check for power at the dome light!
I already stated that i know i have the wrong ecu and im aware of what it is for.
AND I have looked at all of the how to's.
Yes i looked for burn marks, cororded terminals/connectors.
I just wne up to work for a min and i ended up finding the TPS was not plugged in, and it had a broken off sensor in it, i pulled the old senor out and plugged it into the tps on the TB. and still runs like ****, i know it has to do with the injectors cause i have never seen a mess like this. I would like to try and "TEMP" fix this wiring harness thats in the car until i do the LS swap, but they have connected so many wires at the ecu plugs i do not know which one goes to which. I was trying to trace them down but it is a hot mess.
I know the car is not a SI, i have read enough to get that the first day. I never stated it was a SI, i was simply stating i do not know which model ef it was...
btw thanks for your retarded come back- "I can tell you are a newb to Hondas... You talk more backwards than a monkey wearing a hat on his ***."- are you serious, like i said this is myfirst honda, everyone starts somewhere correct? yea!
Anyone else

I'd almost say to get a Helms manual for the car, start getting the proper wiring ran to the proper locations, locate the proper ECU, and verify what is and is not there on the motor that's supposed to be plugged in. Only then would I start beginning to MAYBE consider this to be a daily driver.
Fix your wiring issues, your unplugged sensors issues, and everything else, Take your intake manifold off and just search all around that motor with the Helms manual, searching for anything not done properly. Clean IACV so it doesn't cause issues once you've put it together properly (otherwise you may play the "is it mechanical or electrical why my idle won't go right now" game).
Scan the ECU for codes, and just start un-hacking this thing.
I am curious, though - why did you buy a car that's got this many headaches? There's a gazillion Hondas; this one sounds like you're going to be chasing wiring gremlins for the next year.

I bought it out of the sper of the moment type thing, i got it from a "friend" and i knew it had wiring problems but not this many.
ok, so i have a PM& ecu, what else can i run this ecu with, motor wise. im looking to do a ls swap here in the near future. what ecu will i need for that. if i cannot use this for my future plans or for this motor, then i will sell it. and buy the right ecu.
i also have which driving me nuts, everytime i step on the gas, it whistles extrememly loud- what could this be caused by
