Default engine ID

I've got a 91 Accord that I'm going to have to replace the head gasket on (if I didn't burn it up.) I see all these engine numbers and don't have a clue and need to price parts to see if it's even feasable. All I know is that it a 4cly. Thanks for any help.

to find the engine code look on the block left of the exhaust manifold by the bellhousing and you should see it (might be covered with grease)

If you're going to be buying a rebuilt head, you'll need the casting number. It's on the right side of the engine looking from the front of the car, just above the exhaust manifold.

Thanks for the help. Beggining to wonder if this car was such a good idea. We'll see after I price out the parts.

Oops, one other question. Is this one of the motors that you have to replace the head bolts on because of torque stretch?

No these are not TTY. Now that doesn't mean don't check them for damage and that but they are not TTY and I assume this is a stock set up.
