why are jdm motors less expesnsive then usdm motors?
more work on the wiring harness, alot of people don't want the trouble of doing it.
they cost less because cars in japan emissions are so strong they have to take the car to the junk yard or have a motor swap after about 30,000 (so I have heard) and it's cheap to purchase them because there are so many engines sitting there collecting dust when can be purchased and are just barely broken in motors.
That's what I have heard from many people, don't know if it's true.
The wiring harness ordeal might be a small prob, but not much.
the only problem i ran into is the distributor and alternator plugs are different on JDM engines. Took about an hour to splice all the right wires to the JDM plug.

this is just one way, other ways can include a japanese guy, after realizing he could've boughten something much better in japan, decided to commit hari kari(sp?) and drive his type R off a bridge

They have to get rid of their cars in 3 years or get tax'd very heavily. The junkyards benifit from this because the cut the cars and half and sell the front clips to various companies that export them out of Japan.
The country benefits from always having new cars purchased. The scrapyards benefit from always having business. We benefit from having cheaper swaps for the same motor (And there are not problems using the engine wiring harness that comes with, all I had to do was use a USDM vtec solenoid).

that's not necessarily true... japanese emissions are really strict, and are required to have a 30k smog check... luckily for us, when the motor doesn't pass smog, rather than trying to do someting about it , most opt to just swap the motor. but they are not necessarily made to...

they are cheaper becasue you cant regester them here. they have to be inspected and smog certified. i think its a customs thing really. kinda like how they bring bmw M3's over they tune'em down to pass smog.
also..they are cheaper because they look at thier B engines like how we look at our D engines. why would they care about B engines when they have freakin sylvia, skyline, and supra engines? they are over stocked w/ B engines knowing us USA people would buy them cause our country sucks in recieving hot *** cars like over seas.... not my opinion..i read it somewhere...
also..that thing about them having to get rid of their car 30,000 miles...i read that somewhere too..
