jdm d15b swap
Hey guys im new here, Im looking to do a swap in my 89 civic dx. I'm putting in a JDM D15B SOHC Non-Vtec. I was wondering what parts I should replace before installation and where to find them. I appreciate your time Thanks.

First, read the faq.
Second, d15b has vtec, so you must mean you have either D15b1 or b4
Third, you should always replace: timing belt, tensioner, water pump. Optional are plugs, wires.

ok, first, Ive read the faqs and found nothing, second the place im buying the motor from, They have D15b Vtec and non, its from japan not us. Third The JDM D15B Non vtec has 103HP, And the vtec has 130HP. But I do appreciate your reply and your time, thanks
If you do some research you will find that all D series interchange. That being said, you can install the long block assembly, swap over the mounts, intake and exhaust. You can run it DPFI if you so choose.
Ok that makes sense, The motor I have now I did a swap from DPFI to MPFI, Also have the PM6 ECU and SI Dizy. If I decided to go Vtec, it's from the years 92-95, obd1, could I just bolt in the motor and not wire/run vtec, or do i have to use vtec for the motor to run? Also do I need a jumper harness for this engine? Thanks again for your reply's, this site is soo much faster then civicforums.
No you do not need vtec to run if, but it would be better if it is wired up. You can stay obd0 and run a vtec head as long as you use a ps9 ecu and use the wire for the trans lockup as your vtec trigger. If you want to go OBD1, then you will need to get a adapter harness, dizzy, 4 wire 02 sensor and run the proper ecu which will have the optimal fuel mapping for vtec.

Thanks sp33, Thats where I was getting at. The JDM D15B Im looking to buy is Dual Carbed; the motor thats in my '89 Civic DX is usdm and has 92HP and is the DPFI, The JDM Non Vtec is Dual Carbed and has 103HP. Not to mention I've done the swap from DPFI to MPFI and it made a hell of a difference. When I purchase the Dual Carb, Im going to go MPFI as well. So it will be faster then the 88-91 SI.

So my question is without taking it to a dyno... What kind of power is it putting to the wheels if a JDM D15B Non-vtec engine is MPFI swapped and CAI and Header? Any guesses.... 110?
