Default My ITR project

So here is the back story. I bought the car in 2000 with 18k on the clock. I drove it with bolt ons til I paid it off then boosted it on the stock motor and was hooked. I went through a few different set ups but eventually made 556whp on a 84mm sleeved motor.

I ran into the issue of finances a few years ago and sold the car as a roller and kept the driveline to put in a civic hatch. Though the civic was fun and much lighter I never "bonded" with the car and decided I wanted my ITR back. I sold it to a friend who sold it to his friend. I got in touch with the owner and worked out a deal to get the car back.

I got it back last year and it has been sitting waiting for the last few odds and ends to be ready to put back in the car. Tonight the motor will be at home in the engine bay and then I have to order injectors and get a re-tune for the turbo set up. Here is the run down of what the car has/will have at the end of the project:

Engine:
85mm GE sleeved B18C1
Wiesco 10.5:1 compression pistons
Manley turbo tuff rods
ACL bearings
B16a head ported and polished
ITR cams
Skunk2 valvetrain
ITR intake manifold
Blox throttle body

Tranny:
Stock ITR tranny
GM synchromesh fluid
Competition stage 5 clutch with upgraded pressure plate and solid hub disk
ACT flywheel

Turbo set up:
RLD-Fab Ac manifold and 3" DP
T3/60-1 ball bearing turbo with S compressor cover
Tial 38mm wastegate
Tial 50mm BOV
2.5" IC piping
Precision 600hp IC

Management:
Hondata S300
GM 3 bar map sensor
255lph pump
Greddy profec-b boost controller with high/low switch

Suspension:
AMR engineering suspension set up for drag racing(flamesuit on)
Full race traction bar
10pt chromo cage
G-force cam lock harnesses

Wheels:
Stock ITR wheels(for now)
235/60/15 MT ET street radials in front
195/55/15 rears(haven't decided what tires I want in rear yet)

Stuff I need to buy:
1200cc injectors
15x7 wheels
24.5x8.5x15 slicks

I need to touch up the cage a bit in the welding department and get the car painted this winter. I want to get it on the track and get the chassis sorted asap though. On this turbo I hope to make 600whp and over 400wtq with a decent powerband.

I will post some of the build process pics later tonight or tomorrow but this is what it looked like just before I sold it and I would like to get it back to that point asap:

I want to thank:
Everyone at Bolisbuilt racing for building the new motor
The guys as Gasparr motors for always helping and pulling all nighters to get stuff done the right way
Ron at RLD for building me this manifold 6 years ago and it holding up all this time with no cracks ever
Joe at Pittsburgh Performance for the time he has taken to help me out with stuff at the track and the tune did for me last year.
Eric(DontBlink) for taking car of the car when I sold it to him(you need another turbo R!!!).
AJ for selling it back!
Jeff at 1st Try engineering for the cage.

What do you mean "with upgraded pressure plate"
Where can you get it?
Are you satisfied with that clutch? Do you have any Problems at high rpms?
Do you think the CC Stage 5 would handle 600whp?
Thx

I believe you just at an "x" to the part number and that is the upgraded pressure plate. You can get it from comp or anyone that sells their clutches. I like the clutch better than any clutch I have ever used before. Their standard plate is 2100lb and upgrade is 2300 but will hold more than a ACT 2600 because of design and pedal pressure is way less with this clutch. I made 583whp last season on this clutch and it looked great when I pulled the motor out of my hatch to put in my R.

took some pics last night but at 3am I didn't feel like loading them on here since I had to be at work at 9. all that needs done is fluids, traction bar, IC piping and mount the FMIC. a friend has rc1000's he is letting me use from his supra so I can heat cycle the car as long as they fit. should have a start up vid Thursday.

Erik, Keep an eye out for some cheap 15x7's for me

yup 120k+ mile stock ITR tranny. I broke an input shaft bearing last year but that was it. 1420x is sprung hub 0420x is solid hub. Best single disk out there IMO. I street drive a lot too, if you don't mind a rough engaging clutch use the solid hub.

The clutch will not hold 600whp. The clutch will hold up for highway pulls but launching and from a stop, it will get destroyed. You will break it and most likely have rivets etc floating in your tranny case. If your going to have that much power, go with a twin disk. I am speaking from experience and yes I now have a twin disk.

Also expect to upgrade to carbon synchros as well.

It will hold 600whp all day. 583whp 380wtq with 2 years of abuse on the street, track and dyno. Never slipped(spun the tires on the dyno actually). Launching off a 6500rpm 2 step on 24.5x8x13 slicks as well as 235/60/15 MT et street radials and 235/60/15 M&H street strips. Never had one issue. 600whp is the limit to the clutch but it does hold it

well when I first turbo'd the car it was on stock internals with inline pro head gasket, 450cc injectors, afc, and fmu. The car made 300whp on a greddy kit from a GSR on that set up and got a deal on a sleeved c1. My C5 is in a friends car with 84mm sleeves making 575whp( traded him my stock C5 plus cash for his 81mm GE sleeved C1, he then sleeved the C5 to 84mm)

I never broke the stock bottom end and ran 17psi on it with that greddy kit. When he pulled it apart the stuff inside was still good as new
