Need advice with 90 civic hatch!
So i need some options my timing belt snaped on my 90 civic hatch dx. I re did the belt and pretty sure i got the car back in time but when i went to turn the car over all i hear is the starter turning the motor and like a mechanical sound of it turning but it doesnt even sound at all like its trying to spark up and start. I tried to do a compression test on 2 cyl but nothing came up...Is it toast or is there a small chance i maybe okay?
Do a compression test on all cylinders. My guess is that you have bent some valves. Is there a reason why you chose to test only cylinder #2?
Happen to me recently.. snap timing belt on freeway bent couple valve. End up rebuilt entire head. If you planing to upgrade, now the chance, otherwise you toast, need rebuild the head. Think that timing belt connect the bottom block and head to move in harmony, when it's snap, they all move differently almost each of them. So... up to you what you gonna do now. That's from my experience.
i ment i tested two different cyl sorry guys. I was pretty sure this was an interferance motor so i had that feeling now i found someone locally with a d15b7 head for dirt cheap and my readings have led me to believe that this is a direct bolt on i wont need do so anything and i can keep it dpfi and such. Reason is im super broke i bought this car just to dd to and from work and i dont really wanna put any real money into it.
Oh, then yeah no compression on either cylinder is a good sign that some valves aren't bent. There is a test to know for sure but it's pretty much a given at this point. If you do want to confirm, look for a leak down test procedure on the web.
Regarding the D15B7 head, it is a one for one swap.

remember, if you are going to use felpro gasket, don't spray anything on it. Also if you are going to re-use you old head bolts, make sure to torque them 10lbs over the factory setting. After you run the car for a day or so, retorque.
okay i need more help. I want to modify my stock dizzy to work on this new head.I know its possibly but i read somewhere that i will need to modify the dizzy to make it work. The thread i was reading that describes how to do it now doesnt have pictures.Assuming the host changed so im kinda lost on this.Im using a d15b7 head! Thanks Trying to do this on without spending money i dont need to Thanks
88-95 SOHC non VTEC 16valve heads are all the same cast. You should be able to just install your original distributor and be done.
so i found water in each cyl except the one closet to the dizzy thats where the spark plug was pushed up on but does that mean it was just my headgasket? I mean i already got another head so im gonna swap it anyways but just wondering
new problem is when i tighten up the timing belt the bottom crank seems to be off a hair and i think the top cam is also that shouldnt cause a problem right im guess when i tighten the belt it spun a little
