95 gsr wont rev past 7k
hello i am new to the forum but have been doing alot of reading and this seems to be a reliable place, anyway on to my problem... i have a 95 gsr in a 91 hatch pretty much stock other than s2 intake mani, intake and exhaust, and it drives fine has normal pretty normal power however it wont rev past 7 sometimes will go to 75 but not further on the street or out of gear
all my plugs are good and oil levels are good, only mods leading up to this problem are a new stat, fresh coolent and a cd player. iv done my reading and found that it could be the dizzy, vtec sil., ecu and low oil but oil is good and vtec dose kick at 4400rpms like normal so im guessing ecu or dizz problems but before i start buying new parts any other suggestions??
gsr/gsr trans only has around 79000
thanks for the help

that what i was getting at, 20 year old pump. flow might be lower. is fuel pressure lower now than it was before? u can try to swap regulators with another one to see
the pump i have is a wlabro 255 (b0osting in the future) will that be a problem with stock injectors and reg?
I think I have the same issue as you, but mine cuts out higher.

so i put the walbro 255 in and now the problem has either worsened or its something els... the engine will rev to high 7500-8300 but only if i open the throttle a little bit...at wot it will rev to around 5000-5500 and losses all fuel pressure, when driving it feels like fuel cut. i swapped on my sohc fuel reg. before the fuel pump change out and the old problem continued so regulator is ruled out
maybe tps?
maybe tps?
Most Honda's run pretty good without a TPS, it will use MAP to calculate throttle angle as a backup.
GSR's cut out at 7800 right? I would use an digital timing light and check the actual engine RPM. Honda tachs are kinda funky, especially the older ones. My 91 hatch is off by 450rpm at redline, and every so often the tach will surge and give the correct reading, verified it with a timing light myself.
There is another issue that will cause a skewed tach reading, generally the ignitor output will be erratic at higher speed, hell the switching end of it for the coil could also be erratic, causing the cutoff. either case replace the ignitor and retest the coil.
OE injectors? If your injectors are over rated duty cycle it can die off so to speak. But you make it sound like its when you hit fuel cut at max speed, it just hits a brick wall. Or does it break up when you accelerate it standing still?
And lastly, does it have a cat on it?
