Default 98 civic knock sensor troubles

Hey guys i have a 1998 honda civic ex and i have been having problems with it since day one.
the car has a d16y8 block with a d16z6 head.
first thing i'm having trouble with is the knock sensor circuit malfunction code.
i bought a brand new knock sensor and replaced it. the code went away for about thirty minutes and then came back on. so i'm guessing there is is a short in the wire but i don't know how many volts is supposed to be getting to the wire.
the second thing i'm having trouble with is the car is not getting power. i was told since it has the knock sensor code it is getting thrown into limp mode and limp mode does not let the car get power. another thing i was told is that the intake manifold was not put on correctly. which brings me to my second question. since the car has a d16z6 it also has the d16z6 intake manifold. Would the car run correctly with this setup or is the intake manifold just really not on there correctly.
thanks ahead with any help.

Don't test for voltage on the KS wire. Turn the key off and use a multimeter to test for an open (no continuity) or short (continuity with body ground).

ok i will test this next weekend since i'm not home right now, but if the circuit is ok and it is still throwing the code could the motor mounts be the reason it is going off?

I do NOT have continuity. What do i need to do now? I am thinking of replacing the wire harness because it has been hacked up and tampered with. what else could i do?
