I have always stuck with short ram mainly because I don't like the idea of hydrolocking my engine if I were to drive through a deep puddle, which I have done before in the past (drove through deep puddle, not hydrlocked my engine).

Also, the difference in performance is so insignificant that it isnt worth the risk of having nor the effort of installing a CAI.

Aren't all V2s CAIs?

hydrolocking with CAIs is probably the most con about them, other problems would be the hole that the piping goes through behind the headlight. if you dont put a rubber grommet around the hole, the cai will rub against it violently and will eventually cut open the piping

Ya I believe all v2 are CAI. The mount for the v2 is pretty heavy duty. When I installed it I grabbed and shook the intake as hard as I could pulling and pushing in all directions and it never touched the sides of the hole where it passes through. I was just curious about a warm air intake because I read on another fourm that they wanted warmer air which makes no sense because colder air is denser which creates more power. Correct?

I don't think that either provides any serious performance gains on a stockish car. They do sound cool though. I had a CAI on my EG for years, and drove that car through everything and never had an issue with hydro locking the car at all.

these responses serve no purpose. no technical info at all. cold air vs warm air ?? lol all i hear is yeah my LS sounds throaty and aggressive and mean... lol vtec CRACKS with my aem. lol stupid. but pretty much rule of thumb cai is better in most cases. cooler denser air means bigger bang= more powuh for your honduh answered for the 10,000 time for the 600,000 noobs out there

Waste of money on a stock Civic. You'll gain MAYBE a few horsepower.

Not to mention that spending 10 seconds in the All Motor forum will tell you that a 3" intake with a BPI velocity stack and filter is the best thing for all motor applications. Better if the length is tuned on a dyno.

Again, any bolt on besides a turbo is a waste on a d-series. If you'd like to rip the engine apart, run high compression pistons, rods, a solid cam, etc you could then justify getting bolt ons for a d-series. Even then you're looking at hittinh a concrete wall in terms of performance at 160whp. A b-series with the same effort would be looking at 200whp+

That said, since you've already got an AEMv2 you should keep that. It's the only cold air intake that can really compete with a good short ram. It's an expensive intake that actually has R&D behind it. I'd personally sell it and put the stock box back on. On a stock d-series you'll probably gain power across most of the important part of the powerband.
