Default Recharge A/C with PROPANE

I've read that you can recharge a car ac with propane is this true? The ac is r-12. If you can how do you adapt the 1 LB propane bottle to the ac?

You can and you can't. HVAC or AC systems can use propane as a refrigerant just like r-12 or r134. Propane refrigerant is called r-290a but the stuff you get from the BBQ grill is the NOT same grade and has impurities like water, oxygen, and other grim.

I wouldn't recommend using it because you have to play with the charge amount, get the right superheats and Hi and low end pressures.

Use the recommended refrigerant to recharge your system.
