Ok, 1990 Prelude SI ALB, engine is B21A1 w/ 243,000 miles, MT. Have an issue with the idle. I can get it stable for a little while, then every once in a while, (more often then not) when I turn the AC on it will bog down to about 550-600 rpm. Then other times it will (without the AC on) stay up around 1500 rpm. Still other times, it will stay steady at about 750-800 whether I turn AC on or off. I have checked all vacuum hoses for leaks, havent found one yet, although I cannot be positive. The idle used to to surge until after I had adjusted the idle screw with the EACV disconnected and that seemed to help for a little while. Also, the idle at the normal 750-800 is awfully rough (shakes the car a little), and exhaust is kinda smelly (running rich?) I get pretty decent gas milage (25-30 mpg city) and compression checks out at around 150 across the board. Has a new O2 sensor. Thows a 12 code (EGR) on cue after about 5-10 minutes of driving. I'm pretty sure I have some kind of vacuum leak somewhere, but cannot place it. Any ideas? maybe the EACV needs replacement/cleaning?

on the funny noise: - I hear a noise from the engine bay that comes on and off with a regular cadence, but only when the car is in motion. It almost sounds like a fan motor squeaking, but I can make it stop a soon as the car stops rolling. The noise starts up and lasts about 2 seconds, then stops for about 3 - 4 seconds, then starts again. its drving me crazy, cause I cant get it to do with with the hood up so I can pinpoint it!! Any help or suggestions is appreciated.. a round of to anyone who can help me out!

Wish I could help you, but the same problem happened on my sisters car and after a month or so she just sold it and bought a civic.

Guess she just didn't have the same love for the lude!
